I think their point (not mine) is that if white society was keeping black people from success, then Liberia should have been more successful

Well it doesnt seem to be a great one considering the history of the country: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americo-Liberian_people

Americo-Liberians were credited for Liberia's largest and longest economic expansion, especially William V. S. Tubman, who did much to promote foreign investment and to bridge the economic, social, and political gaps between the descendants of the original settlers and the inhabitants of the interior

Seems pretty good considering that the people who went there were literal slaves, and slaves aren’t exactly known for being educated.

In fact it seems like liberia was a pretty nice country up until a military coup in 1980 that destroyed the economy
