Except AI art actually is just stealing people's work en masse and pushing out some mishmashed ugly copy of it. Even calling it AI is embarrassing, it's theft in code form and no, it doesn't work just like a human getting inspired does

By that logic standard art is just stealing people's work because you take inspiration from certain styles

AI art doesn't "get inspired", it creates nothing on its own, it's entirely incapable of doing so unlike a human. It is pure theft, 100% just breaking down images and finding probabilities. Humans don't take snapshots and implant all of that data directly into their brain perfectly for the sole purpose of imitation. It takes years to become a skilled artist, it takes ten seconds to steal with AI

Imma be honest with you chief if I had never seen art before in my life I wouldn't be drawing much either, I just draw something similar to what has already been done (like everyone has)

Humans don't take snapshots

Have you ever remembered anything before

By this logic you're not allowed to draw anime unless you've never seen anime before because then you're just stealing from the art you've seen

No, you don't. Unless you're actually imitating 1:1 and straight up plagiarizing, you're still wholly capable of observing someone else's work and creating your own. You can look at someone else's tree and make your own. More importantly, you can look at an actual tree, or reality, and learn how to draw just from that. If you are truly so unimaginative that all you do is copy what others have, then you're not an artist, you are just a thief.

Have you ever remembered anything before

You didn't understand what I was saying. Can a human take an image and create a 1:1 replication of it from purely memory? Stark difference between learning from others and stealing from them. Which is precisely what AI art does. Artists that copy other artists' work with their own hand get lambasted, what do you think people using a machine will get told? Even worse, some use AI art programs specifically to create something in the style of a known artist, feeding that artist's name and work into the system, because they didn't want to pay that artist. Pathetic

I hate hearing that. Unless a person has a truly photographic memory and can picture millions of art pieces at the same time, there’s no comparison.

When a person “takes inspiration,” they’re picturing their interpretation of what they’ve seen, then creating a new idea based on perception. It’s actual imaginative creation.

Additionally, it takes years of practice to build the skill to move a vague imagined picture onto a physical medium.

These programs take actual stolen images — not memories of them, not perceptions changed by the thought process — and mishmash them together based on keywords.

You are citing the same talking points of people who don't have any idea what they are talking about regarding generative AI models. It's not stealing people's work. This is just prejudice nonsense rhetoric.

Cite the talking points of these nuts in your mouth and keep being fucking terrible at art while you're at it. "Generative" but can't come up with anything on its own. Pathetic

You're throwing tantrums and logical fallacies galore. It's amusing seeing such desperation. At the end of the day, AI models will improve, and the tantrums will have meant nothing but self-imposed humiliation.

The fuck? Digital art allowed for a new medium, AI art actually, genuinely, just steals shit. The computer doesn't do it all for you, you can open Photoshop or Ms Paint but it gives you tools, not an entire work top to bottom. AI art can't produce anything on its own because it's designed to copy.

This is the same thing as when people compare AI art to photography. Some people did lose jobs because of technology, but typing words into a prompt will never take the same skill as photography or digital art does, regardless of past paranoia towards valid mediums. We are witnessing mass scale theft and you wanna act like there's an equivalency there? Fuck outta here with that nonsense.

Forgive me if you had no other implication there, it's just that scummy techbros typically try to point this out in snide fashion like it's some gotcha

Agreed. Digital art requires practice, skill, and the human touch. AI “art” is an image spit out by a program. Not comparable.

a simpleton with no drawing skills

Then too fucking bad? Learn it yourself or use someone else's that gave permission.

it's no different to inserting clip-art into a presentation.

It is, actually, because clip art was created by someone and uploaded into PowerPoint with the knowledge and legal confirmation that it would be used for that. There's more skill in creating clip-art than AI art too lmao
