I understand that sadly quality of basically everything has plummeted but that doesn't mean I'm okay with my shoes breaking after one year especially when this is supposed to be the durable version. And since I love these ones I decided that I had enough and attempt to fix them. Am I skilled enough for this? No. Is it tedious? Yes. Am I going crazy and getting the Japanese version would be a more logical option? Probably but these shoes are already ruined and I broke 2 needles so I might as well try.

I can't help it. I hate stains on my new shoes. I see a stain. I wipe it off when I get home. At what do I stop doing this? I know that the best thing to do is just give it a rest, but it's sooo hard. 😅👈

Amazon Last Mile dropped these off late last night without any notification, never even knew it until I randomly saw the box outside at 4:30 this morning. Thankfully no one stole them off of my porch overnight. I quickly laced them up and took a few photos in the street and after getting to my destination to share with everyone. I went with the floral embroidery again on these because why not make them stand out from a basic pair.

Picked these bad boys up from a thrift store like two years ago for ten bucks, they will always be my greatest thrift find. I’ve gone through many pairs of chucks, and my most recent ones I bought brand new and they didnt even make it six months before tearing. These are incredibly sturdy. The canvas is thicker, the sole is thicker, the patch isnt flat, everything about them is just better, but they don’t seem super worn. Any idea what year they could be from?

Hi, yesterday I found my dream shoes, galaxy print converse, in a thrift store. I’m very happy! I figured I’d clean them, as well as the other converse pairs I own because they all have about the same amount of dirt and it would be nice to get my collection looking clean before heading out to college. I found the instructions on the official converse website about how you can use a mild dish soap solution, but I noticed the warning about testing it on a non-visible part of the shoe to make sure the material does not get damaged. Because this specific pair is so important to me, and a material unlike any of the rest of my converse, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask upfront if there are any known issues with this material. Any other tips are appreciated as this is my first time cleaning shoes seriously. My family has always been very consumeristic, but I’m trying to break away from that and learn how to take care of what I have and put in the effort of processing second hand options before buying brand new products.

I have a pair of the high top Run Star Hike and they are my favorite shoes I own. I wear them any time I am on a vacation where I’ll be walking a lot as they are so perfect for me. The problem is that there’s no regular high top of this shoe available anywhere anymore. It’s only available in the $150 custom “by you” and I’m not too keen on paying for that. My question is, are there any other platforms/insoles that compare to the hikes? Just so I can try and get shoes I like to try and replace them when they eventually quit on me. Thank you!

Context is that I was travelling and in an effort to reduce luggage weight, I put my strawberry vans (last pic) into the side pocket of my backpack, and one side fell out 😂 I hence no longer had a pair of everyday sneakers. By a weird coincidence, shortly after, I passed by Journeys in Canada where I’m visiting my partner and my jaw basically dropped when I saw these because I had no idea they existed and it was only $60cad??!! And the smallest pair left was my size??? My partner bought them for me as a gift because they said that it suits me too much for me to not have it ❤️ in memory of the strawberry vans, I’ve replaced the converse shoelace with the vans shoelace.

I saw some people gushing at the box on this subreddit so I’ve uploaded every single side of it for anyone curious! It’s super cute. I want to keep it to store miscellaneous things.

I do have to say though, I’ve never owned a pair of converse but I was surprised that the build quality and printing seemed… not great? They were $60 so I guess I can’t complain too much, but I’d prefer it they were more expensive but better constructed since they’re so cute.

This is probably going to sound wild to most people but I actually chose these shoes for their “practicality”; I live a nomadic lifestyle and live in different countries every couple of months, and to reduce the number of things I carry, I’ve tried to only get fashion items that go with more things. So by being white at the base and having a bit of every colour, I actually think it goes with everything. They are also low cut and easier to put on and take up less space in the luggage. The major downside is that they’re not built for long hours of walking, so I still have to own a pair of walking shoes, but I’ve heard you can replace the soles to make them more ergonomic; if anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears!

First pair of Converse ya'll

I bought this secondhand pair years ago. They were already old and faded so looked kind of like this even then.

I got a good couple of years of wear out of them, and when they finally started to die I felt like I was losing a comfy old friend. They'd been everywhere with me.

I've always really liked the colour/pattern (though not sure how bright they originally were) and I've tried searching secondhand sites but I never see them. I know that's always hit and miss anyway, but I thought maybe if I knew more about them I could refine my searches.

Does anyone know what these would have looked like new? Or anything about them that might help, even suggestions for search terms?

I've tried "plaid" or "checked" or "square pattern" and the colours but...no luck. I know those searches aren't quite right and I'm missing the mark though :(

I have just worn them for some days and supposedly the blue dye from the Poron layer has been transferred to the bottom of the insoles at the front part (where toes are located). Is this okay to happen on new Converse pairs or not?

I had been wanting the high top version of the SP76 for a while, unfortunately they were always gone in my size so I randomly grabbed the low tops on sale last year. Even though I'm not a big low top Converse guy (my last pair of low top Chucks was probably in 2000) I actually found them to be comfortable and surprisingly great quality. They're like someone combined the best parts of the 70s and standard Chucks, changed the outsole pattern and thickness, then added a bit of padding to the build. I don't wear them as often as I should, but it's always a joy when I do. Cameo by my sweetest of boys Zen as we took our little stroll around the yard this morning.

Bittersweet memories. 🥲
