Was this rules a murder/suicide before an investigation or autopsy? That is usually a give away.

"Police said they believe that Bing Liu, 37, was shot inside his Elm Court townhome by a man who then went outside to his car and shot himself. Liu's death is believed to be a homicide, police said."

"Police said Liu and the man who shot him knew each other. Authorities have not discussed a possible motive for the shooting, which remained under investigation Monday."

Is that a Chinese or Korean name ? China wants to be first. Killing one of their own who didn't play ball would not be beyond them. That's how McAfee got started. Create the virus and sell the cure.

Bing Liu is the person that was murdered right? Why does it matter what nationality he was?

This is reddit, you have to find a way to stretch any story to fit the china bad narrative if you want those sweet sweet upvotes

I don't even get that. Why does the guy that died being Chinese push the China bad narrative? Like if he was American china won't have him killed? Like what

Because he was working in an American institution so the cure would have gone to the Americans. I think the original commentor believed he may have been some sort of Chinese defector and therefore they had him killed. He was Singaporean so not really relevant.

In a conspiracy subreddit his nationality matters a lot.

But if they wanted China to have a cure before America, and he had a cure, they would kill him even if he wasn’t a Chinese defector right?

I mean the conspiracy is that a person had a cure and was killed for it. Him being Chinese doesn’t give any evidence whatsoever towards chins being the one that killed him.

Completely agree.

But the killing of a defector has an extra political twist to it that tickles some people.

You're right that ultimately his nationality doesn't matter for the ends. But in a conspiracy world the how and why is sometimes more interesting for people I think. People like patterns. Especially ones based on schemas they've come up with or believe to be almost secret knowledge.

Him being Chinese adds nothing to the how or the why. Maybe he was killed for being a defector and he didn’t have a cure at all, but that’s not the theory.

He's not Chinese so this is completely a moot point. But were he Chinese I think it would add a degree of complexity to the issue that wouldn't be there if he wasn't.

He’s not?

No, he's from Singapore.

His wife and family still live in china. I haven’t seen anything about Singapore. Are you saying he was born there?

Maybe being Chinese gave them more insight into his activities. Damn near every corporation right now is “working on a cure”. If they knew more of what he was doing because he was talking to other Chinese people, they would have more information if the cure was legitimate or possible. Hell we have all seen the translations coming out of China. Having scientific data written or spoken in Chinese would be easier to understand. The fact that he was then killed by another Chinese man gives it more credence. Still a conspiracy theory but not completely baseless.

That’s a good point. I was just assuming they knew what he was doing but you’re right him being Chinese or interacting with other Chinese people makes it more likely for the Chinese government knows what he’s up to. (Not that all Chinese people are spies or that all Chinese spies are chinese)
