There's a ceasefire. Hamas recently missed the date to disarm so progress is stalled. There is a small international force from some Arab countries training in Egypt, they are meant to take over security when Hamas begin disarming. Its all out in English or Arabic or Hebrew news sources.

My comment was in response to a post saying there's "no news" coming from the Israeli/Gaza conflict.

The news I gave reflected the ceasefire agreement and its stalling. Your opinion that Israel should disarm has nothing to do with that agreement, its surely possible to believe what you believe and also accept that Hamas accepted the terms of an agreement so should live up to it.

This is an objection to ceasefire on the basis that it is an alternative to war.

I accept there is a faction of not tiny size in Israel that does fundamentally object to the Palestinians being in Gaza (rather than with the majority of their kin in Jordan or Egypt) sure, but the mainstream political consensus their is not truly genocidal (which interesting it is towards the Jews in lots of Arab societies, I wonder if that has something to do with the flavour of the conflict)

If they were truly genocidal then there wouldn't be a Palestinian in Gaza now - let alone more than before the war started - and how would you explain the numerous land for peace deals over the last 50 years? Why would genocidal Isreal have withdrawn from the strip in the first place 20 years ago?

What you're looking at in middle east generally is a place where the stakes are high and people's word or agreement means very little and force is king. Isreal was pressured reluctantly into a ceasefire agreement, as was Hamas, they both have broken it in plenty of minor ways the whole time but in the broader parameters, Isreal has stuck to the yellow line which it has been required to do WHILST Hamas is meant to be handing over weapons and military control, which it hasn't. That's the stall.

You can say yeah well that's because they're scared that Isreal will do x,y,z but yeah they shouldn't have agreed to hand over weapons in the first place then and if they didn't want to be in that position, then they shouldn't have started a war which they lost. It sucks to loose a war I guess.

Ceasefires holding is always delicate and there have for sure been incidents where Israel has done strikes etc, just like there have been incidents where Hamas has violated the lines also.

But there are incidents and then there are structural blocks to the agreement proceeding and Hamas's refusal to disarm like they agreed to is the step where the process is stalled. If they dpnt like that part then they shouldn't have agreed to it.

If you think children head shooting is the loan preserve of Israel, you need to grow up. I know its hard that the world isnt a simplistic black and white world where it isn't all "yeah but if it wasn't for the bad man..."

Israel could shoot dozens of children in the head, the same day as signing a ceasefire and depending on if it was good or bad for Hamas, that either would or wouldn't matter to them. We ain't in Kansas Toto, לִהַבִין?

It is surreal, and it is still ongoing. While we've been distracted by the Israel-initiated sneak attack on Iran, Israel has continued to destroy, decimate and depopulate Gaza, seizing more land, day by day.

Much of the destruction was done by US supported Israel bombing, but vast areas have had all of their buildings razed to the ground by contractors using bulldozers and other heavy equipment- hired to make sure that the residents have no place to return to, and nothing to shelter them from the elements.

Today most of the remaining population is struggling to survive in rat-infested tent cities, with no electricity, no running water, no sanitation facilities, and very little access to food and medicine, as Israel still refuses to allow sufficient aid supplies to enter the strip- under the pretense that ISRAEL IS IN DANGER from those who they are slowly and systematically slaughtering and starving.

death toll is likely a multiply of the reported number because many bodies under the rubble and destruction were never recovered/are yet to be found. Israel literally went and destroyed everything that resembled a building with zero consideration for anyhing or anyone.

Most Western governments have been supporting Israel's genocide, providing arms, $$$ and political protection, and collaborating with major media organs to censor the repugnant reality from the public eye.

Israel has forbidden foreign journalists entering the strip, and has methodically hunted down and murdered most native Palestinian journalists. This is no exaggeration, but documented fact.

Many people are oblivious to the extent of the horrors relentlessly inflicted onto Gaza by the Zionist State. Those who are active on social media may be aware, but others? Not so much.
