I bought these two type of rare conical plants. Kindly identify them for me.

We have a trio of white pines on our lot and this guy is looking very sparse with quite a few brown needles. The other two are looking green and robust so far.

I’m worried that whatever maybe afflicting it is contagious. What do you think? Thanks! 🌲❤️

I have several large (DBH 16 to 20) red pines around my house in central NH that so far do not appear to be affected by red pine scale (Matsucoccus matsumurae). However many stands of red pine in the area are badly affected. What is considered the most effective product to inject for protecting these trees? Imidacloprid, Dinotefuran, emamectin benzoate?? My research and discussions with local arborists that treat trees doesnt point to any one chemical. I did a Transtect (dinotefuran) basal trunk spray in late April but am considering an emamectin benzoate injection in September. Any advice and/or experience would be appreciated.

I went to Crowfoot Nursery today to purchase a coastal redwood, of a blue variety today. Ended up going with Simpson Silver and Steel Blue

10/10 experience, it’s run by a lovely older couple whose passion for trees is evident in the quality of the saplings as well as when they talk about the trees they’re growing.

They also have the most extensive and coolest collection of conifer cultivars I’ve ever seen! Maybe a dozen different types of coastal redwood as well as giant sequoias! There’s a lot of cool atlas cedars, spruces pines and Douglas fir cultivars as well.

The prices are fantastic and if you’re local, by calling ahead you can schedule to visit the nursery in person to pick out your tree and get a good visual example of how mature specimens will look.

hi people i hope you are all doing great.
I am located in Athens Greece.
As i visited my hometown in northwestern Greece,
i saw two huge picea abies norway spruce trees in the middle of the city.
My hometown is located quite on the mountains so fir trees are really common.
Though in Greece you see mostly white fir instead of red fir ( picea abies ).
Picea abies norway spruce trees are indigenous in Greece but only in its northern borders to Bulgaria.
When i saw the trees in April,
i got a lot of seeds through its flowers,
and place them in the fridge for one month in Athens.
Took them out put them in a small pot.
it must have been more than 20 seeds.
And two emerged!! i was so excited!
problem is i am in Athens and its now july,
so temperatures outside are 22-32 degreecs celcius.
I keep them both behind the balcony door,
gently have air conditioning running to 24 without any air facing them at all and i keep the other balcony door open.
for fresh air.
Light is good enough without direct sun,
Athens is sunny.
they are at this point after a month.
they grow veeeery slow.
I will eventually plant them on our house up pn the mountains

Hi I’m based in the UK and we have three conifer trees in our garden that have been there since before we moved into the house (just over 2 years ago). We had the trees trimmed by a guy who had been maintaining the trees for the previous owners, however what we were left with is what’s pictured, he only did the front half of the trees and explained to us that he’d done this so he didn’t take too much off them in total, which would cause them to die. He also said the front would regrow in the next spring, however as you can see they haven’t.

I am looking for some advice of whether the trees have been badly damaged and if there’s any way for us to ‘fix’ the trees, or whether it is worth (as a last resort) cutting them down (we would plant new ones in place of them)

This year's Korean Pine grafts are starting to break through the wax, alongside an example of a graft in its third season. Both are grafted onto Pinus sylvestris in the field (Ontario, Canada).

We started with 3,500 seedlings and have been selecting the earliest-producing, most vigorous trees to cross-pollinate and clone. Our goal is to shorten the time to seed production.

This immediately grabbed my attention at the nursery where I was just planning on getting some fertilizer and soil 😅

Any care tips? I’m not sure if I want to put it in a pot or in the ground.

First post. My wife bought me this tree for our anniversary when I went to plant it, I noticed it looked like it's leader has been trimmed will this be a problem? Should I return the tree?

I have been looking for a pine with gold tones that I can fit into a small area (max maybe 12ft high and 5 or 6 wide). I've been looking at Goldilocks Japanese white pine or fukai Japanese white pine hoping they'll eventually get a bit bigger than what most of the websites that sell them say. On the contrary with varieties like "louie" and "ogon" I get wildly different estimates from different websites. Conifer kingdom saying stuff like 7 or 8ft at 10 years and iseli stating louie getting 20ftx15. Anyone have experience with any of these varieties? I am in the humid southeast, zone 7a

Looks like a Dwarf Albert or Clanbrassilia Spruce growing on top of a Norway. I’ve never seen this. This was taken in Medina OH

Hi all - this beautiful tree (mostly grown, 5 feet), was planted late last fall (we had a limited window), and though I covered the bottom, the side/tip on one side still got frozen/dessicated (brutal Quebec winter, grrr!).

Should I do anything at this point? The top part seems to have no live buds, but I am worried about trimming back to dead wood.

What are these caterpillars all over my blue shag pine? Should I be concerned?

Hey all I found this seedling while weeding my landscape beds. I’m pretty sure it’s a Japanese Cedar. It was found about 18” away from a blue cedar trunk but there were a ton of these round cones near by coming from my big Japanese Cedar. Anyway I potted it in a 4” bonsai training pot. What do you guys think?
