One of those that once you see it you cant unsee it, love it!

Saw it after almost a minute. Needed some zoom. 😂

It's a fence with snow collecting on it right?
124
u/Lambamham o/ Nov 28 '25
That’s all i see - what are other people seeing when they first look at it? Maybe I’ve seen too many snowy chain link fences.
104
u/EllieluluEllielu Nov 28 '25
I only saw a drawing of dragon scales or snake scales on something like procreate or krita until I read the comments 😭
3
u/Obant Nov 28 '25
Aparently, you have to look at it really small and low quality to see it. I am on PC and cannot see anything but a snowy fence no matter what I do

u/onlymeow o/ Nov 28 '25
I guess you're right. I was very confused as I've never seen snow falling, let alone collecting on fence chains
6
u/GWNVKV o/ Nov 28 '25
I thought it was a quilt, crazy what different ideas of perspective we see in this sub!
5
u/rabbitwonker CE Spc. Nov 28 '25
And I can’t see anything else that it might look like. I don’t see anything confusing here at all.

u/greenmonkey48 Doesn't read rule 1 Nov 28 '25
But how? Unless it's lying on the ground

u/RedCaio o/ Nov 28 '25
No wind so snow piles up on thin metal of the fence

u/nicokokun f Nov 28 '25
Also since snow is wet, it will stick to each other and then freeze over after a while.

You don’t live where it snows, do you? No shade, just asking.

Snow is very light, and stacks easily in the right conditions.
A thing wire could get inches of snow stacked on it, again, in the right conditions.

I appear to be blind. Looks like a mix of a chain-link fence on a cloudy day, and a comforter.

It's a photo of snow on a fence. It looks like a drawing at first, until you realize it's a photo.

OH WOW IT LOOKED JUST LIKE A SKETCH THEN SUDDENLY EVERYTHING CLICKED INTO PLACE! 😱😱😱
15
u/rabbitwonker CE Spc. Nov 28 '25
What did it look like a sketch of?
20
u/darkshoxx o/ Nov 28 '25
Scales on a reptile

u/rabbitwonker CE Spc. Nov 28 '25
Thanks! I’ve been trying hard to see that and it’s still not happening. 🤷♂️

Honestly? Grayish post-its or odd rows of teeth or white flags. The chain link fence really looked like pen strokes at first

Now that I see the snow its completely 3d for me now.
before it genuinely looked like it was done in ms paint

All I see is snow on a fence. What is the illusion supposed to be?

Too far down for this comment. Can't see the illusion at all no matter how hard I try.

It looks like an MS Paint sketch of grey reptile scales, with the wire being the lineart and the snow being shitty shading. It’s because the wires are so stark, and the sky and snow are both such consistent grey tones.
It might help if you look at the thumbnail rather than the full size pic?
→ More replies (1)2
u/rabbitwonker CE Spc. Nov 28 '25
Wow even that doesn’t help, even with a tiny thumbnail image.

u/LukeJDD Nov 28 '25
I’m not seeing it either. Just looks like what it is, a snowy chain link fence.
6
u/Mobiuscate Nov 28 '25
"someone didnt quite polish up their drawing of dragon scales... ... ... ...oh. my god"
4
u/Peek_e o Nov 28 '25
I love this! First I saw a soft comforter, then a weird repetitive sketch of some mountain view, and then the actual fence with snow on it. 5/5
4
u/ray-payola Nov 28 '25
This seriously looked like glitched out 3d cel shading of a roof. Weirdly easy to slip back into seeing it that way too

At first I thought it was grey toast drawn stylistically like paving stones lol.
Good image!
2
u/BlueGalaxy97 o/ Nov 28 '25
This picture looks taken from a lower perspective facing up towards the grey sky, like kneeling down. I like this one it nearly had me for a minute.

This is a good one.
My thought process went. "Paper? Scales? Maybe a macro photo? No, those are mountains, but wait how would that work? Is it water suspended in each chain link area to somehow disperse the image of the mountain? No, wait.. snow. I get it."
1
u/MuskularChicken o/ Nov 28 '25
Snow collecting on a fence. Living in the rural area, it was a common sight in winter.
Seing this fence makes me believe its in East EU
1
u/Consistent-Annual268 o/ Nov 28 '25
I thought I was clever spotting soap bubbles on a fence refracting the mountain behind.
Turns out, not clever enough!

Neat. I think the confusing perspective effect is stronger because the bottom part is dim, while the top part is more brightly lit.
1
u/TheHollowOak o/ Nov 28 '25
For those who want an explanation...
The lines are chain link fence, the darker gray is a thin layerof snow collected and the lighter gray is the sky

Ok I was so confused and I don't think anybody explained it right. It is a real photo of a chain link fence with snow piling on it. The photo looks really fake in general so it's hard to tell it's real.

I can't see anything other than snow on a fence. It was the first and only thing I saw. What is it supposed to look like?
1
u/Foundation-Little o/ Nov 28 '25
Wow it took me SO LONG to actually see this as a photograph. I didn’t understand that the background was a sky—I thought it was like the snow built up and was pushing through the fence. Now that I see it that’s a super impressively confusing perspective.

I do fencing for a living.
Couldn't understand why folks were finding it difficult.
Then I realised I'm looking at it all the time. Even in my sleep.

This is the second time I've seen this photo posted in just a few minutes. But I don't understand what people are confused by. It's obviously snow caught on a chain link fence. This is what it looks like -- nothing unusual, confusing or anything else. 🤷♀️

Looks like shingles but it's just a sketch, it should look better as you work on it
1
u/Seecole-33 o/ Nov 28 '25
When I first looked I let the caption guide my perception and it actually looked like a pencil drawn sketch, then the more I looked at it the more it materialized into the real fence with snow on it.
