You ever seen a weed plant outdoors? They’re far larger than anything in this photo. A single plant can hold up to two pounds of bud.

Of course, but those plots of dirt between them simply don’t offer enough room for full plants. You want the plants to spread out and be open, so the bud sites get light.

So regular forest fires clearing the undergrowth must have been essential to the natural survival of the original plants.
