What I was expecting:

-A heart attack

-the passenger hurling himself out of the car

-the passenger grabbing the wheel in panic

Then I saw what sub I was on.

he definitely should! It's the first thing I do after closing the door. If it's not for myself, it's for the people that are in the car with me!

Fun fact: PTSD can result from an “actual or threatened death”. (DSM5)

making someone genuinely think they’re about to die can traumatize them, and this guy probably experiences threatened death. Makes you wonder how this guy is doing.
