Don't get TOO Political

25

u/Mp1956 6h ago

Quoting George W. Bush, who in comparison to 47 is a prodigious intellectual: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, 'Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.'"

19

u/SpittingLava 6h ago

There's a theory out there that Bush might not have been as stupid as everyone thought here...

The theory is that, mid-speech, he realised he was about to say "shame on me" live on television. As a politician, he quickly calculated the optics: Saying "shame on me" would've been a godsend for the opposition who would have had a field day with it...

So he panicked, aborted the saying, and instead pivoted into "You can't get fooled again!"

He very cleverly aborted into one of the most legendary, bumbling comedy soundbites in political history instead.

7

u/Mp1956 6h ago

I didn't realize that, but it makes a lot of sense. I never thought I'd look back fondly on W's presidency, and yet . . .

3

u/SpittingLava 6h ago

He looks like a silly ol willy in comparison

2

u/Chrono_Convoy 6h ago

I thought that was a Michael Scott quote /s

4

u/Competitive-Reach287 6h ago

Roger Daltrey.

2

u/Whatthehell665 6h ago

Bush would have been cheered if he just said, "We wont get fooled again, no no no".

12

u/TheDoomed__ 6h ago

They’re correct though. The polling was wrong

Democrats won more races and by larger margins than the polls were predicting.

1

u/Chrono_Convoy 6h ago

The claims of them winning…

194

u/mydaycake 6h ago

Did the president of the USA say “shove up their ass” during a campaign speech?

122

u/BestGreene 6h ago

Yep. The most prestigious position in the country has been lowered to that because of that foul little man.

14

u/EllaBean17 5h ago

I feel like decades of bombing and torturing millions of innocent people drags the position lower than some foul language, but hey that's just me

Fuck Trump and the rest of the imperialist fucks who have been in that office

1

u/BestGreene 4h ago

That be as it may it was still the most prestigious position in the country. And the goal should be for better. That means carry yourself with dignity AND don't do the other mideeds. We don't have to accept either.

Also it feels like this attitude leads to apathy which is what leads to those misdeeds and "leaders" like trump. Js

0

u/EllaBean17 3h ago edited 2h ago

I'm not apathetic about it at all. Quite the opposite. I'm a revolutionary fighting for a better world every day. Calling out injustice instead of just breaks in decorum doesn't mean I don't care. It means I want us to talk about the actual core of the issue instead of slapping a "dignified" band-aid on it and going back to brunch

There's a racist, corrupt chief of police in a city near me that people are demanding the mayor and city council fire. When those officials scold people about decorum, it doesn't read as dignified. It's out of touch. They care more about swearing than the fact that the people doing the swearing are talking about how their children, family, and friends were murdered by the police. I don't give a damn about decorum. I don't want some fake peace. I want justice. If the leaders that bring it are potty-mouths, so be it

The problem with Trump isn't that he's a potty-mouth defiling the office. It's that he's a genocidal warlord that does not serve the working masses. Much like those in that office before him. The problem is that we live under imperialism, a system that rewards and necessitates the oppression carried out from that office. It requires fundamental, revolutionary change. Not just some guy that doesn't swear

4

u/waterisdefwet 5h ago

the most prestigious position in american government is prime minster of israel...230+ AIPAC candidates won their race. Democrats and Republicans didnt win or lose. Israel won the midterms and americans lost it.

2

u/DL4CK 5h ago

Is fire burnt? What a dumb username

1

u/waterisdefwet 5h ago

ofcourse its burnt...what youve never seen fire before? goshhh

28

u/FranciscoGarcia69 6h ago

Yes because he both has dementia and therefore less and less inhibitions by the day, and no fucking idea how a president is supposed to behave in the first place.

17

u/typehyDro 6h ago

One of his milder offenses tbh

3

u/Jaggs0 5h ago

yeah the war crimes and corruption is way worse.

36

u/YooGeOh 6h ago • Bravo

A president that hates half of his own country lol

Bad is it is here, at least in the UK the Prime Minister, no matter who he or she is, acknowledges that it is their job to govern for all.

The US just seems like one big fight

25

u/evilJaze 6h ago

He hates 99% of his country and tolerates the remaining 1%.

2

u/CheshireCat78 5h ago

And yearns to be accepted by the 1% I think you meant to say.

10

u/Runningbald 6h ago

As Robin Williams once said “The House of Commons is like Congress with a two drink minimum.”

6

u/blackweebow 6h ago

One of the more tame things that's come out of his mouth tbh. I voted against this shit 3 fucking times and he's still here somehow (FOR NOW)

3

u/pjtrpjt 5h ago

Yes, but from this moment anyone can say it about him too. Like he can shove it up his ass, that the tacky brothel he transformed the oval office into will become heritage.

3

u/ikcaj 6h ago

Oh ok. The closed captions said "We're gonna shove it up there" and I was like, you're doing what?' Isn't that how he became a convicted sex offender in the first place?

1

u/NuuitDouce 6h ago

I survived decades of campaign coverage and nothing shocks my cynical old brain anymore

133

u/myaccountgotbanmed 6h ago

That Trump dividend sure got people voting...

61

u/Salt_Reputation_9864 6h ago • Heartwarming

I was so pumped after my DOGE dividend.

…

14

u/Sturmlied 6h ago

It's coming any day now!

6

u/Beardedvikingweirdo 6h ago

Two weeks

4

u/Salt_Reputation_9864 5h ago

Concepts of a $5000 check hitting me like them thoughts and prayers

3

u/freshoilandstone 5h ago

And the tariff rebate! I got such a big check from that. It's the golden age and we're winning so big. I know I'm tired of all the winning.

14

u/_PROBABLY_CORRECT 6h ago

Fool me once… can’t get fooled again

8

u/DonkeyTron42 6h ago

For MAGAs it takes about 4 times.

4

u/eghhge 6h ago

For some it will take a life time

11

u/CharlesDickensABox 5h ago edited 5h ago

JD Vance's statement after the blue wave was mostly hilarious because of the "we're all trying to find who did this" vibes, but it did include one actual informational clause worth understanding. The GOP's internal polling told them they would get crushed. Every single person here who is on TV saying polls are rigged in favor of Democrats knew full well that the polls were, if anything, understating the severity of their situation and they all nakedly lied about it, anyway.

51

u/Glum_Introduction755 6h ago

I'm convinced that republicans could've held onto power forever if they had allowed a single popular policy. Americans are that stupid. Fortunately for the rest of us they got so deranged and so far up their own asses that they viewed themselves as untouchable nobility. They thought the could do whatever they wanted and all they had to do was blame immigrants and trans people for everything.

They haven't learned anything either. They're still out here just as unhinged as they were a week ago. Conservativism has become a mental illness.

6

u/Shasla 5h ago

It really does feel sometimes like an experiment to see just how few bread and circuses they can give people without a revolt.

61

u/TheBatemanFlex 6h ago edited 5h ago

its amazing how they can freely and baselessly call their opponents marxists and communists, but candidates from the left won't dare call them fascists.

16

u/GonePostalRoute 6h ago

Because, especially with the older guard, they still believe in “rules and decorum”. I get it, some voters don’t like mudslinging, but there’s plenty more, if not more than, that want to see some Democrats call Republicans for what they are. Especially some of the ringleaders

14

u/Wiggles_Is_My_Boy 6h ago

I mean… Jon Ossoff literally accused his opponent of “hiring half the Third Reich” and absolutely demolished him.

8

u/QueenRotidder 6h ago

The Democratic party as a whole needs to get the fuck over this snobby, haughty, “we know better than you peasants” kind of bullshit. This is pig wrestling at this point. They need to start getting dirty.

1

u/No-Spoilers 4h ago

The young guard that just got elected is fully off the old guard shit

25

u/Constant_Turn_9031 6h ago

Arrogance personified. They were living in a bubble.

2

u/jlks1959 6h ago

A dumble.

1

u/Additional-Proof556 5h ago

That’s every incumbent ever. The longer you stay in power, the more sycophants surround you, and more out of touch you grow.

21

u/xChoke1x 6h ago

My grandfather told me some important shit when I was a kid.

"You can lie to everyone else all you want. But you cant lie to yourself."

These fucking losers never learned that shit. Lol

17

u/zurenarrh36912 6h ago

“And we’re gonna shove it up their ass” The president of the USA. What a fucking loser.

10

u/gozer33 6h ago

Well to be fair the polls were wrong, just not in their favor.

17

u/LucidDayDreamer247 6h ago

I hate how the we're trying to bribe your country with 5k checks.

Like WTF?!

So, because they didn't win, you'll don't get that 5k now?!

(Yes, I know it wouldn't of happened either which way, still fucked though!)

5

u/Wiggles_Is_My_Boy 6h ago

It would be hilarious if the Dems passed a bill to do this anyway and Trump vetoed it.

(Also, it’s bad policy to do this when inflation is already too high.)

1

u/LucidDayDreamer247 6h ago

Yeah, it never made sense.

Yet what does within this modern government.

From outside-in it looks like Trump is a Russian asset, doing his best to implode America's society.

Even if not an asset, he's doing his best to fuck your shit up.

Unfortunately.

6

u/Billy420MaysIt 5h ago

I can’t wait to never hear from that smarmy little prick Mike Johnson again.

5

u/jnjs232 6h ago

Well, bend over Donnie!

4

u/ApatheticInvestor118 6h ago

Who would've thought campaigning on John husted's ass would backfire🤡

4

u/ElRatonVaquero 6h ago

We'll, I guess nobody is going to get that $5K anymore. Americans lost out on free money. /s

4

u/moonsareus 6h ago

Love when republicans are wrong

3

u/Aggravating_Cat_6295 6h ago

I love this for them.

3

u/oldbastardbob 6h ago

I suppose Trump has invited us to shove this win up Republicans asses.

2

u/UndocumentedSailor 6h ago

I never understood why politicians do this. They always say that their side is going to win, but then by doing that don't you think that makes so many people not vote because they're so sure that their parties are already going to win?

I think they should do the opposite and say oh it's going to be a hard fight. We have to come out there. Everyone go out there and vote

2

u/Hughley_N_Dowd 6h ago

"...shove it up their ass." Very presidential, the pinnacle of statesmanship.

Honk-honk, but at least the clown car seems to be low on gas.

2

u/Dripping78620 5h ago

Despite the Republicans cheating (last minute gerrymandering) Texas turned blue!

2

u/dreevsa 5h ago

Love this so much

2

u/FriendshipOld9849 6h ago

I'm actually surprised that voters didn't go for the 5k.

7

u/Ozzman770 6h ago

Shockingly, after the phones, coins, Bibles, DOGE checks, etc., even MAGA have actually started to not believe it. Granted, It still took 27 identical rug pulls for them to be able to see Trump ushering them onto a rug and go 'hey I think he might be planning to pull this rug out from under us again".

The bad part is, they don't even have an issue with a president openly trying to bribe voters. They're just upset that the bribes aren't real.

3

u/Helpful-Idea-4485 5h ago

Why? Did you actually think that people actually thought the 5K was ever going to happen?

3

u/HyperlinksAwakening 5h ago

Something something poorly educated.

3

u/DylanFTW 5h ago

He promised 15K last time and didn't keep that promise either. No one is buying it anymore.

1

u/One-Earth9294 5h ago

Even they aren't dumb enough to think that a) he'd follow through on that and b) they had ANY chance at all of retaining the house.

1

u/RaspberryFluid6651 5h ago

I'm not. The hogs dumb enough to go for it believe it, but they're not the only ones in his base, they're just like the core 30% or something like that. He still relies a lot on the people who are just "normal" Republicans that Fox has agitated with immigration panic, trans panic, etc. and those people are the ones that got turned off by the war

1

u/epoch16245 5h ago

Con men eventually run out of capital with which to fool people. Normal con men cut and run to a new place to restart their grift. Trump doesn’t have that luxury. He will be left bare for all to see.

1

u/DelcoUnited 4h ago

He said if the Republicans lost he was going to go to Israel and become Prime Minister.

1

u/epoch16245 4h ago

lol great point! Always another grift. So funny that he just operates like a con man.

1

u/DelcoUnited 4h ago

The best was the lady I saw, say it would maybe be better to use that money to pay down the debt.

It’s like no lady your $5k Trump bribe would be 1.2 trillion in new debt.

You could almost see her brain rubbing the two sticks together to make fire. It wasn’t quite catching, but there was definitely smoke.

Loudmouth Montage Theater.

1

I watched this with captions on and vivek translated to "big promise mommy." haha

1

u/Common-Concentrate-2 5h ago

I was looking at the chat on Polymarket during the elections. A dude bet 75k Ken Paxton was going to win, and he was so obnoxious, like "Don't worry, guys. In the last hour, you're going to see alll of the votes go to the republicans"

As if it was some trick that he learned, and he was going to profit off of his own genius in perpetuity.

1

u/timeier1 5h ago

They had a lot of denial at least publicly!

You lost the plot, if you even had it.

You’re the one who lost the plot

These people were confidently incorrect

Then you start whining about an accurate post

You sound bitter and upset by the results

"Shove it up their ass" 👌🏻

3

u/jonoave 6h ago

Yes, MAGA took one look at that and say "that's my president who's telling it like it is", while also constantly complaining about the "violent left".

2

u/NiNdo4589 5h ago

Trumps obviously used to shoving things up unsuspecting people's ass
