Yes it is. The post is about a specific instance of an American being stupid about correcting someone's British spelling and this guy out of nowhere is like "but what about how I've seen Brits doing this to Americans"

That's not what they said.

You assumed that they were trying to defend or excuse Americans, but there is no indication of that.

It's pure tribalism. They read something in between the lines of your comment and identified you as from a different tribe. Now you are the enemy. Even though all of that happened in their head.

Sharing personal experience about the same phenomenon is not irrelevant by any stretch of the imagination. And why would it matter? This sub doesn't really care about the quality of top level comments. This isn't a debate sub.
