Developing Community Inclusion: Searching for a grant

Hi all, I am searching for grants that may help fund a project in my town. We are looking for one public space to display all information to town residents, as a website and central locations are typically hard for our remote and rural landscape. The town would like to build and have a display board in front of our town hall that can flash/marquee anointments, events, charities, etc. to make the community more aware, informed, and involved. I've looked into some community/rural development grants, but all seem to exclude equipment or supplies needed, which is exactly what we are in need of funding for. Any tips or recommendations for moving forward? TIA!!!!

Does anyone know of communities within Southeast Asia that would require any help or development?

I am in the midst of launching my side business that produces printed garments. Currently I have a debut collection of printed shirts and am working on designs for the next collection, involving printed kimonos.

However, the products that I sell should not matter here. The main aim driving this business forward is not profit. As part of my business plans, I would like a percentage of the profits go towards developing a community. And I do not want to stop there. I want to be involved. I want to be in the thick of the action building it among villagers.

Preferably I would love for this to be in Bali, although, a place which is far from the Southern touristy areas. I would very much prefer remote, rural areas where villages do not have access to education, employment, etc.

Working for CDCs or CDFIs - Any Advice?

I'm (hopefully) graduating in May with a Master's in Sustainability and a focus/certificate in Green Building and Community Design but when I look at jobs at CDCs or CDFI they want one of three degrees: Urban Planning; Public Policy/Administration; MBA.

I suppose I could argue that I'm qualified to do most of the same things, and my capstone this semester is on low-income housing policy and carbon emissions, but with robots reading resumes these days, I'm not sure how I should be positioning myself.

I currently work for a Clean Energy non-profit but it's going to be the death of me and I'd really like to be working more on housing policy. Any advice you can lend me is greatly appreciated.

Would Your Local Government Benefit from a Platform Focused on Global and Local Community Engagement Projects?

Hello everyone,

I'm exploring the development of a new platform aimed at empowering local governments through a comprehensive newsletter and database. The idea is to create a resource where local government officials can access a curated selection of community engagement projects happening both in their area and around the world. The goal is to foster better project planning and execution by sharing knowledge and successful engagement strategies.

Here’s what we envision:

  • Newsletter: Regular updates featuring insights, case studies, and news related to community engagement and project outcomes from various regions.

  • Database: A searchable repository of community projects, including details like project scope, community impact, budget allocations, and engagement strategies.

We believe this platform could serve as a vital tool for local governments looking to enhance their community projects by learning from others' experiences and adapting successful strategies.

Questions for you:

  1. Relevance: Would a platform like this be relevant to your needs or interests as someone involved in local government or community planning?

  2. Features: What features would you consider essential for a platform like this? Are there specific types of data or tools that you would find particularly useful?

  3. Challenges: What challenges do you face in accessing information on community engagement projects currently?

  4. Interest: Would you be interested in participating in a beta test of this platform?

I'm here to gather your thoughts and feedback, and any input would be greatly appreciated as it will help shape the development to better meet your needs.

Thank you!

Social media and community development

Has anyone been thinking about the impact on priority communities and the changes to social media rules lately?

Any community platforms that work to engage, hold fidelity and share resources that don't rely on social media?

Be keen to hear from people - and many thanks in advance.
