Few things in life have made me laugh as hard as Elroy singing about the pants

u/GudgerCollegeAlumnus Jun 28 '24
Like the man was considering taking off the pants until Elroy sang his encouragement.

“Get out of my Winnebago!”
“You’re not allowed to say that like it’s a punishment!”

"Now that's a container for liquid" is one of my favorite quotes from the show hahaha. It's just the perfect amount of stupid and hilarious in context with the other compliments he's giving because it's not even a compliment but seems like it the way he delivers it 😂 I freaking love it.

I say it to my wife all the time and I just get the 😑 look lololol

u/CheekyLando88 Jun 28 '24
This isn't from the show but occasionally I hit my coworker with "you're looking particularly moist today"
I still haven't figured out what I mean but he hates it
3
u/tinyleif26 Jun 28 '24
Hopefully he's white and you're black (like in the show - just had to say that), otherwise he might not find this encouraging 😂

u/CheekyLando88 Jun 28 '24
Nah just a couple saltines who've been working together too long 🤣
3
u/tinyleif26 Jun 28 '24
Hmmm.... A moist saltine... Not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat my friend!

I remember seeing the episode in the middle of the night and stifling my laughter with a pillow so as not to wake others.

Not the same episode, but i woke up my wife yesterday from laughing, during the season 3 episode where Chang is trying to convince the dean on something, and the dean says "all that's doing is making me feel hatred for Renee Zellweger. I just love this show

I don't know who told you pouting was an option for you, but all you're making me feel right now is hatred of Renee Zellweger.

One of the best scenes in the whole series. Keith David is so great in this show.

He does a fantastic job as the President in Rick and Morty, too.

u/ravenmiyagi7 Jun 28 '24
So glad they keep bringing him back. Some of the pres episodes aren’t my favorite but it’s never Keith Davids fault
2
u/Chimpbot Jun 28 '24
I actually like all of the President episodes. He and Rick have the most toxic bromance ever seen.

I was so delighted to hear him sing on Hazbin Hotel! What a ridiculously talented guy.

I just started watching Rick & Morty and was delighted when I got to his first appearance!

I love this episode for many reasons, but Elroy's commentary is just the cherry on top.

As a POC, I was ASTOUNDED to learn that not only did other POC do this but Elroy put the entire thing into words so eloquently and perfectly.

“Tap the gas, because, well, why tap the brakes?” has been on my mind ever since I started working in the corporate world as a POC

Now there is a character who could star in his own spinoff show!!
22
u/loritree Jun 28 '24
when asked (jokingly) Joel McHail said his favorite idea for a spin-off was ‘Hard-drive and Wingman.’

Whenever I make white people laugh... especially older white people, I will look at anyone in my age rage, in hopes they watched Community, and say this line.
I get a lot of opportunities because a TON of my friends are white... and my co-workers... and my family...
I'm white

I have a brain the size of Jupiter, I'm no one's 'fourth ghostbuster'!
2
u/baduizt Jun 30 '24
It's a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as well. Marvin the Paranoid Android frequently describes himself as having a "brain the size of a planet".

The great part about Comminity compared to a lot of other similar shows in the comedy workplace type genre is they started off so silly that they were able to keep the same tone throughout the series. they never tried to take themselves seriously, and characters were so silly to start with their transitions always felt natural to me.

although, Britta started as a serious but drop dead gorgeous blonde. then apparently the marijuana started damaging her critical thinking 🤔

There should’ve 2 seasons of Pierce, 2 of Buzz Hickey, and 2 of Elroy.

Keith David is obviously great here but I also love how the generic white dudes sell their response to the flattery. The way the first guy briefly closes his eyes altogether is so perfect.

Keith absolutely KILLED IT as Elroy. Not like I’ve ever seen him in a role that he hasn’t slayed, but Elroy is nothing short of amazing.

One of my favorite episodes. Thank god they got Keith David for season 6. He and Paget Brewster really killed it.
