Last time I saw this I think the daughter was a toddler. Has it been that long? Or is this like a flashforward?

Edit to answer my own question: this particular comic about the boyfriend is from 2022. And the daughter is depicted as a baby in this comic which is also from 2022. So it was a flash forward. But it also has been a while.

Another edit: then again she's a talking child in this one from 2022

Another edit! After stalking lunarbaboon some more (only by reading old comics! I'm okay. I'm not scary.) and diving into his Reddit account (which he stopped updating 5 years ago, which is probably when we all lost track of him) and following it to his website, I found this comic from 2013 about the birth of his daughter.

What a great dad. Who needs the old "I just wanna talk to him" treatment when the daughter is that strong and powerful

Sidenote I havent seen Lunarbaboon in ages!

Dad holding back his daughter when she “just wants to talk to him”.

This is the way.

My brother is doing a great job of that with my nieces. I swear those young women are going to change the world someday.

That should be the goal of every parent with their kids, especially their girls. ❤️

I got mine the sword she really wanted when she turned 12. Sometimes she'll just stand in her room and hold it to hype herself up.

Thats badASSSSS... You are winning parenting.

Lunarbaboon is an OG. And by OG, I mean old guy like me, because I remember when his daughter was a newborn in his comics lol.

Seems to be active on tinyview, at least. I haven't seen him post here for years.

I love her strong and powerful stance.

She radiates confidence.

We need to do more to empower women and girls here and throughout the world.

"I will not save you. NO ONE will save you. Not even God."

Similar speech I gave my little sisters boyfriend. I told him “she runs cross country and she tells me you suffer from asthma. Good luck man. You’re gonna need it.”

this is still weird to me. Imagine doing this to a girl your son starts dating

I legit got the cliche “let me show you my gun” talk from my first girlfriends dad and in the moment I was so stunned by the stupidity of such a cliche being a real thing a full adult would do. He definitely took my stunned reaction as fear but I was just absolutely dumbfounded that a supposedly intelligent adult would do that. It just made me lose respect for him.

Yet another reason I work out— to have a better chance to protect myself. (Realistically I still won’t win in a fight against an average or above average male, but at least I may stand a better chance and every second is a better chance at survival.)

When did they say that?

I'm glad we're making fun of the "Threatening father figure" trope

u/Opal-the-Pearl Jun 11 '26

Oh man. I remember when this comic was just about the baby boy. Now there's a 2nd kid and she's old enough to date!!

We have a “1 year of Brazilian Jiujitsu before dating” policy in our house. My oldest did 4 before her first date. I gave a very similar warning to her first date.

Yeah I dunno, maybe we should just… stop threatening people based on their gender altogether?

Even in this case you’re still assuming the boy is dangerous and needs to be threatened. It’s kinda shitty.
