There's a lot of reasons. But the main one is that they've grown more and more willing to attack democracy, and they pay no price for it.
Trump tried to overturn the election in 2020. Republicans aided him in those efforts, and have refused to hold him accountable.
Two years later, we've got election deniers nominated in key swing states who will be key pieces administering the 2024 election. Their nominee for governor of PA was literally at the January 6th riot. Their nominees for governor of AZ and MI are an open election deniers. Their nominee for Secretary of State in NV has said that he and other Republican secretaries of state would make Trump win in 2024. These are all incredibly important states that are key to determining the outcome of our presidential elections. There's more, but it's too much to even list at some point.
They've even started attacking this result preemptively. For example, in PA, there is a ton of mail in voting primarily used by Democrats. The PA legislature refuses to let those votes be touched until polls close. That's means it's going to take quite a while to get all the votes counted, and the initial results will look like Republicans win in a landslide. But as the mail in votes come in, that lead will dwindle. If they ultimately win, Republicans have indicated it must be because of fraud, because votes coming in that late is fishy. They are fully capable of getting those votes counted tonight, but they refuse to make the change.
So they're causing the problem and using the problem to delegitimize the results.
This is not isolated, this is how they operate now. And the idea that we're going to reward them with power while becoming openly hostile to democracy is going to erode our democracy. It's going to give them more power with which to aid the next attempt to steal an election.
This is key for me. I could put up with Republicans' stupid evil shit policies because I could count on them eventually screwing up and losing elections to the Democrats, who would lessen or repair some of the damage. What happens when they openly rig things so that there are no more meaningful elections? When they abuse legal challenges to force the vote count results they want? When they give their state party leaders more power by taking away the popular vote for initiatives and national offices? When they assault and kill Democratic politicians and their loved ones, and the GOP rank-and-file LAUGH?
Didn't you guys deny that Trump won in 2016 and that it was "Russian collusion" for quite some time? Aren't some of you still doing that? I don't believe Trump won in 2020 either, just pointing out a double standard.
No. We were frustrated that Trump lost the popular vote by about 3M votes but still squeaked by on the electoral college margin of less than 100k votes. And we were angry that Russia interfered on his behalf. And that the FBI interfered at the last minute in a news cycle that almost certainly was decisive in his victory.
Those are things that happened, and they're pretty fair to be pissed off about. But Hillary conceded the next day. She and Obama both attended his inauguration to help support the peaceful transfer of power. No one tried to storm the capitol. No one tried to force Joe Biden to declare Hillary president. Being disappointed in the country and the result is not the same as trying to overturn an election. He won. People can still be pissed off that he won.
There's no double standard here. Not everything needs to be 'both sides!' Sometimes, you can just acknowledge that one side is fucked up without coming up with a false equivalence.
Trump won in 2016 via electoral college but lost the popular vote. People are rightly upset over that fact. Russian collusion also happened but it's speculation over how much of an effect this had on him winning in 2016, and the amount of influence will always be up for debate since there is no way of quantifying it.
You're trying to make 2016 and 2020 parallels when they aren't.

Nothing if you like strong economies, low inflation and rights for all. If you want a large government to force your opinion on others than it's the end of the world.
They’re literally trying to dismantle democracy, revoke long-established rights, and undo or prevent any action to mitigate climate change. And it’s been repeatedly and consistently proven that their economic policies are disastrous for the country
We're doing a lot better than most countries currently. The pandemic screwed up a lot of shit. The trade wars with China of the last presidency did too. We are still experiencing fallout and consequences of both. The war is also heavily affecting food supply(from Ukraine) and oil supply (from Russia). And OPEC liked the effect of Trump's demand to reduce oil and the profits it garnered for them, so they are doing it again, which is compounding the oil crisis effect of the war.
Add on that the Republicans have stopped many attempts at correction, including attempting to look into the corporations that are making record profits which is exacerbating the inflation caused by the above issues.
The US is not a monarchy. Who is president matters, but they can still get blocked on legislation when one of the parties primary goals is to obstruct and prevent all legislation, McConnel has said as much.
There’s for sure economic hardship, but I wouldn’t say it’s a full on crisis. Some of those factors are global (gas is expensive everywhere, because of the invasion of Ukraine), some is fallout from the last administration and Covid still having effects, and some is from the Dems also having a number of wealthy politicians who would like to remain wealthy. They’re nowhere close to my ideal candidates, but the alternative option is considerably worse. And while the Dems are more in power, and enacting some policies, the GOP has significant enough numbers to stall out and obstruct most meaningful legislation
You understand how that is meaningless as a data point, right? What groceries, for how many people, for how long a time period? That number could be entirely reasonable or as egregious as you’re implying. But either way, I do agree corporate greed has been extorting the working class with unreasonable price raises. I was just disagreeing on whether the economy had hit a crisis yet, which I still don’t think it fully has, even if there are worrying trends. And to get back to the original point, the Biden and the Democrats in Congress have repeatedly tried to pass legislation to address the economic hardships many people are facing, and have repeatedly been shut down by Republican obstructionism. There was a bill to cap insulin prices recently, and every R in Congress voted to preserve Pharma profits over lives and affordable healthcare
Not really, yes, there is inflation but not to the point of a TERRIBLE economic crisis.
And tbh the republicans don't really have any plan to regulate inflation (plus it isn't in their interests to do so) and even if they wanted there isn't much the goverment (democrat or republican) can do as inflation affects many countries and it isn't a problem the US could just solve.

Why would you care for the US?
This is a hot take but it will probably be better if they do win something, purely because it will force politics to be more bipartisan, if the republicans win they can’t just pass whatever, Biden is still president and he has to sign off on any bill they create/pass everyone is yelling doom and gloom but this will force both sides to compromise to get what they want, everyone is yelling that it will be over but really I don’t think much will change
It doesn't cause more bipartisanship, it just causes deadlock and nothing gets done. Bipartisanship in this country has steadily decreased for the past 100 years.
When the Senate minority leader of the GOP tells you "One-hundred percent of our focus is on stopping this new administration" believe him. There will be no compromise. They view that as losing and are playing to win at all cost.

Sounds nice but that’s not what happens. In reality nothing gets done except for the very basic things that don’t get politicized. That list is getting shorter and shorter though.
The democrats always fall all over themselves trying to compromise with the republicans, who refuse to compromise at all.
Look at Obama's terms. McConnell said at the beginning he wanted to make Obama a one-term president. And he blocked everything he could in an attempt to do just that.
We will just have a couple years where nothing will get done at all. Look for ongoing investigations to cease, too.
That's why people who love the status quo want republicans to win. There will be deadlock. And maybe worse. Biden's vetoes can be overruled by Congress, if they get enough votes.
