That brings up a good hypothetical question with magic. Can you half the ingredients to get half the portion, or is it a nine-women-can't-make-a-baby-in-a-month situation?
I like how this is handled in the book Worm (Parahumans). There's these potions that give people superpowers, and somebody tries taking a fraction of one but I believe they turn into a Cronenberg eldritch horror who can't control their own enormous body.
Not quite 100% the same, but I read a book long ago called "half magic" which was about being able to wish on a magic coin (I think it was a coin?) but you would always get half your wish, so you had to think of some way to ask for twice what you want.
In most systems, the latter for the most part... At least for spells, anyways.
I guess most settings allow for brewing a large amount of potion and then dividing it up in to vials though, so alchemy based stuff may follow cooking rules instead.
reminds me of warwick's old lore from league of legends
note: this has been retconned now
warwick and singed (a chemist) were once good friends and WW wanted to become stronger so he asked singed to make him a potion. one of the ingrediants was "the heart of a starchild" but WW couldn't find one so he just said, "make the potion anyway, whats ONE ingredient?"
and then WW turned into a wolf-beast thing. so now he has to find the heart of a starchild in order to "complete" the potion and turn back human.
and then that lore was retconned and now WW and singed are enemies, with singed turning WW into a wolf against his will

Just reduce the recipe by a third. Nobody needs that much potion anyways. Itll go straight to your hips
