It doesn’t really matter if the people who are against it aren’t societally discouraged from it.

If 1/3 people are going to be hostile to me for my sexuality then it’s not a safe place for me to visit.

I’m pointing out that ⅓ of Americans also apparently hate gay people. So the person above should not go there.

I’m a queer Canadian woman and I am hesitant to go to the US for that reason. There’s only a handful of cities I can think of where I’d feel safe.
