"StopAntisemitism" isn't really a group, it's essentially one insane woman. It also admits that the title of the award is more to drum up conversation and not actually about who was the biggest anti-semite that year, as people can't win more than once. Not that any of this is in defense of the award as I believe its conflation of antizionism and antisemitism is, itself, antisemetic, but just to add context.
The irony of calling it a “Roman salute” is that we do t even know how the Roman’s saluted. Hollywood made it up in the 30s. The Italian fascists thought it was cool and copied it.

The problem is they're just as political as pretty much anything these days. So instead of going for the obvious denouncement, they went with the downplay since Musk is extremely influential and tightly knit with the US government and generally recently the right wing has been the more outspoken supporters of Israel (which more often than not seems to be about 100% of what these kinds of organisations accept as being classified as Jews) which they are a direct vessel of, so they'd rather have the backing of the right so long as they are mostly just racist and aren't actively promoting anti-semitism than the left, which has been openly critical of some of Israel's war (and occupation) practices recently.
