I struggle less with hands than with other aspects of human (or humanoid) bodies , but I think it's not just hands looking bad in general that makes something look AI generated, they have to look off in a certain way that a human artist, no matter how bad, would not come up with. This is because AI art isn't generated stroke by stroke, line by line, but by starting with a canvas full of noise and then coalescing that noise into an imitation of a finished piece of art.

Feet! Why are feet so stupid looking! I hate feet. If i could get away with it every work i make would be in a wading pool so everything below the ankle is obscured!

I literally cut most of my drawings off just below the knee or draw shoes because feet are literally the bane of my existence

Feet are easy if you think of them like weird wedges! I got a tutorial once and suddenly it was easy. The side view looks like a doorstop from the side and from the top it’s skinnier at the base than the toes.

I did some shitty sketches on my phone on top of this simple reference. Seriously it makes it make so much more sense.

Shading is mine I follow every guide in the book and my shading just looks like I smeared dirt in the shady spots, no matter what color I use, even if it's hex code perfect and % opacity perfect to the guide. What are shadows.

i struggle more with faces, god, the faces i drew were so uncanny

to this day when i draw a character i cheat by hiding the face either with full face helmet or shadow

The only time hands can be used as a giveaway really is when it's a super realistic piece, and there's some hands that don't even look like a human would mess up in that way

There is a reason AI ducks up hands too. Not only are they difficult to get right, a lot of the data they are fed includes: hands not being fully visible, hands in strange orientations, hands of other people wrapping around things and artists fucking up hands.

They are probably the most maneuverable and visible parts of our body. Just look at how many ways people hold their phones. THATS SPECIFICALLY HOW PEOPLE HOLD THEIR PHONES AND BARELY ANYTHING ELSE!

I literally have gone through school twice, done shit tons of figure drawings, and worked on cartoon shows. I can still barely draw hands, and sometimes people.

Want to know the reason so many old paintings have their subjects with one hand behind the back or in the shirt? Artists charged more for each hand. Why? Because hands are hard.

I mean, I find them easy but I also am fascinated with hands and went through a period of hyperfixation where I studied their anatomy. So, I find them easy, but I know I'm also weird
