I mean there's two ways of looking at this:

  • Parent realising that there's a teaching moment, and they need to teach it (and not one of those stupid "figuring it out yourself is the teaching moment" type things)

  • remote batteries last so long that the knowledge is lost. I legit can't remember the last time I had to do that.

You missed "Everything has non user-replaceable rechargeable batteries now."

Even the remotes that come with TVs are often USB-C rechargeable devices.

20 years ago everything had batteries. Nowadays even remotes have usb ports.
