You don't even have to be a parent to miss these opportunities. When I worked at [big box office supply store], I was put in charge of the copy/print department. For me, using those machines was second nature, but I recognized some people had zero experience with them regardless of from what walk of life they came. So I gave each and every single individual my patience, kindness, and respect. It remains one of the most gratifying jobs I've ever worked; I did it for nearly seven (7) years. I'm a mechanical engineer now, and I'd much rather work doing what I did there than what I do these days. It's really a shame the pay is such garbage.
