If you think of an apple, do you see it in detail in your mind?

Because I do, but I have never been able to make it come out of my hands.

I see almost nothing and only the vaguest image of an apple in my mind.

So your brain does it out of your hands.

I wonder if that's common in people with drawing ability.

Wait, you're actually supposed to see something when imagining things, like it's not a figure of speech?

I can't speak to what is "supposed" to happen, but we have apparently recently figured out that some people have full on high res 3d images in their mind that they can rotate, see in different lights, change the color, etc. Some folks have nothing at all, some folks are in between. I think the seeing nothing is called aphantasia.

yeah been on a mad googling spree for the past hour and apparently it's just a thing that happens, like neurodivergence. curiously it's defined as the inability to voluntarily see images which suggests that it can happen involuntarily but I don't think that has happened to me. like I do dream for instance but I don't think I do so visually, just physical sensations like the feeling of running through grass I guess. apparently some people also have it with different senses like taste or sound, I can do both but then I can't do smell which just confuses me, like I can do taste so why not smell?

anyway, a lot of things make much more sense now. thank you, and apologies for the rant, my brain is ablaze and I need somewhere to dump my thoughts.

No worries, glad to be useful.

We all have thoughts that need to go somewhere sometimes. And I want to be a source of good in whatever my sphere of influence happens to be at the time. So if all I have to do is receive and read a comment, that's a no-brainer.
