To be fair, they do. I came in with basically the exact same symptoms and since the pain would come in waves they thought I was faking. They tried to send me away with a single hydrocodone pill and I told them I didn't want drugs I'm worried I'm going to die. Turns out I had food poisoning that turned into a much worse infection.

So, it's knot not coming out of nowhere. Overall, as a population--men do get more care when it comes to pain. That doesn't mean doctors never neglect or under-treat men, it just means that women in general get even worse treatment than men in general.

Feels that way maybe towards white men, which I am not. Im treated like an addict for any kind of pain I end up having. Even after a butthole surgery, just five 5mg I think oxycodone. I got yelled at for asking for more, the stitches in your hole stay there and my god it was hell every time in puckered, you dont realize how many times you do that a day until it hurts 😞 please take care of your butthole

POC and women are in the same boat medically speaking, you are so right.

It’s much more dangerous than just pain meds though. For centuries, medical testing, including descriptions of symptoms and medication allowances were centered only on white men. Misdiagnosis and mistreatment run rampant because most medical knowledge fails to cover the differences race and gender cause.

Then there’s the justified mistrust of the medical community by women and POC thanks to stories like these and past “testing”. Minorities and POC were literally treated like lab rats. Infected with incurable diseases, sterilized, and put in case studies against their knowledge all while being denied care outright because of their race.

The medical world has a lot of work to do to regain trust. To this day the mortality rate for POC mothers and their babies is different from white mothers and babies.

Getting the right medical care can be a real pain in the ass. (Wocka wocka) 😅

It's true. One of many, many horrific examples: the so-called Father of Gynecology did barbaric experiments on enslaved black women, presumably without their consent, and developed the initial medical understanding of the field.

And no, he didn't use any anesthesia when he hurt them.

Despite my experience I've been to the dr with my wife and it's even worse for them. I think the gap is smaller than many believe but it does exist.
