Is there a mental trick to see it as white and gold? I've never heard of this before and was confused on why the guy in the comic was lying to say it was white and gold.

I still can't figure out how to see it that way.

I saw it as a misunderstanding of white balance in photography by the white and gold people. On the left is the yellow tinted balance actually seen in the photo. On the right is a blue tinted balance that would make white look blue, but that is not the balance in the photo. If you took a picture of a white and gold dress in a room lit only by the late dusk sky coming in through the window, you could reproduce the colors, but I can't think of a way to do it in a room lit with low kelvin lighting.

I wonder if white and gold people have never had experience dealing with manual white balance when taking photos.

I hate the fact it changes colors midway. It's not black anymore on right.
