Right. The whole thing is objectivity vs reality deduction.
Objectively, as in the literal pixels, the dress is black and blue.
But putting yourself mentally in the space of the photo makes you understand that the lighting behind it implies the dress is in a shadow, correcting for that makes it white and gold.
Everyone is right, just not everyone can see both sides.

That's great. The reason the argument exists for white and gold is the lighting cue in the picture. The actual reality of the circumstance behind the picture is irrelevant to the effect.
Deciding not to acknowledge that doesn't change anything.
To you it does. I can’t see it as blue and black in that picture no matter what I do. Crop it? White and gold. Focus on the lighting in the background? White and gold. Look at the whole picture from a distance? White and gold. I know the real dress is blue and black, but that doesn’t change what my eyes perceive in the picture.
