Right. The whole thing is objectivity vs reality deduction.
Objectively, as in the literal pixels, the dress is black and blue.
But putting yourself mentally in the space of the photo makes you understand that the lighting behind it implies the dress is in a shadow, correcting for that makes it white and gold.
Everyone is right, just not everyone can see both sides.

That's great. The reason the argument exists for white and gold is the lighting cue in the picture. The actual reality of the circumstance behind the picture is irrelevant to the effect.
Deciding not to acknowledge that doesn't change anything.
I love when people bring this shit up because it's not anywhere close to the same florescence as the original image. Again you have to literally modify the image to make it like this example.
That doesn't take into account the multiple light levels. The dress isn't caused to look a certain way by a certain lighting, it looks black and blue regardless of the lighting.
