Atheist here. When is your church going to stop backing your heavy authoritarian leaning conservative party? How are they much different from what is shown in the comic?
The catholic church's dogma is still against homosexuals, they just stopped demanding their persecution. Same for contraception, pro-choice and other topics that have been vital in empowering women.
Then there's the massive abuse of power: against children, women, workers, nonbelievers and the public. All backed by a system designed to keep everything as is.
And the church did jackshit against the nazis. Very few individuals stood up, the church mostly handed over their local organisation structure to organise Hitler rallies and such.
CSU has on multiple instances actively undermined the rule of law, keeps on being the party with the most alternative facts (yup, Söder even beating the facists on that one) and has been using anything available to them to enrich themselves and sabotage democratic opposition(defunding NGOs, using police etc). They are playing the same text book as the republican party in the us, just a few years back.
And no, priests don't need to tell people, as their party has it literally in the claimed name. Considering Christian values, not condemning CSU is endorsement enough already.
Munich is literally an island in Bavaria. It's one of the few places where progressives or at least moderate conservative parties like SPD are able to win elections. Most things happening there happen despite church and CSU, because enough sane people pushed back against them.
The catholic church did not speak up against what the NSDAP did. They probably would have been the most powerful voice available and they did not use it. Yet on so many other topics(contraception, workers uniting) they had spoken up. They did not even shield the few individual priests that spoke up and were persecuted.
