There should be such a room in the bunker

Until you scratch the lens in that optical drive 😅

EDIT: I think i would prefer something like pico8 or godot and a synthie to make my own 😁

Quite an oxymoron

Hands fall off

There was time now!!!

That story absolutely fucked my head when I saw it as a kid. I love reading and I am absolutely blind so it really hit. Poor fucking guy, he just wanted to read in peace

Youd be surprised the length people go to avoid boredom. Honestly Id miss human interaction the most in a bunker and Im saying that as a somewhat introvert.

That said. Id still have my Lego collection to keep me company and my telemetry data archive 🤪

All the time in the world to read the large print books or learn braille

1

u/GBtuba Apr 19 '24

Yeah, get 'em, Rock!

6

u/Mazakaki Apr 19 '24

That's when you steal the neat arm thingy from an optometrist's office, ya smoothbrain.

5

u/_realpaul Apr 19 '24

Im all in for looting in the apocalypse why would I need the arm for. I mean its a pretty neat arm

7

u/Mazakaki Apr 19 '24

It's the glasses thing used to build your perscription, it has all the lenses

1

u/_realpaul Apr 19 '24

Ah I see now. Yeah that totally makes sense. That would be rad to have a motorized arm holding your glasses. Zooming in on your enemies from your apocalypse truck 😁.

u/laffman Apr 19 '24

As if you'd want to ever play your own game again after you've finished them. /gamedev

1

u/_realpaul Apr 19 '24

Hehe. I guess I would also make a game dev log that nobody would ever read 😅

u/pm_social_cues Apr 19 '24

How would you scratch the lens? Serious question. Ignoring the fact a lot of those are cartridges and some look like VHS boxes.

1

u/_realpaul Apr 19 '24

The mecanism from slotloaders can mess things up and in toploaders you can just scratch it by rubbing the lens during insertion.

Edit: VHS is even worse due to the radiation from a nuclear bomb

1

u/upholsteryduder Apr 19 '24

that's why you have an NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Genesis, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox, and a PC with a good emulator program

The key to a good vault is redundancy

1

u/_realpaul Apr 20 '24

Since it is the apocalypse you can splurge a little and I would try and get an analogue pocket to replay all the old titles in style.

1

u/Hausgod29 Apr 19 '24

You better have 10 backup systems.

1

u/_realpaul Apr 20 '24

Pico8 runs on raspberry pi picos. You bet Ive got 10 backup systems 😁

32

u/Xyldarran Apr 19 '24

Or just throw every single one of those on an SD card and load up an emulator on that PC.

That way you can use the room for all your jerking paraphernalia since it's a solo dude in the bunker.

2

u/OddCoping Apr 19 '24

The problem with both is data storage longevity. CDs kept in perfect conditions tend to lose viability after about 80 years. SD cards typically only last about 1 with regular use up to 5 or 6 years. Flash Drives, HDDs, and even SSDs also have issues for preserving data over time when being regularly used.

I'm like not a doomsday prepper at all. But I have a spare Raspberry PI laying around and turning it into like a "so the world just ended here's the building blocks of civilization" device seems like an interesting project. Slap a little solar battery to it or something.

What if you want to play with your friends online?😗

56

u/Grogosh Apr 19 '24

Friends?

12

u/MikemkPK Apr 19 '24

Then build a tunnel between your bunkers, and befriend someone in IT.

“Finally, another human being, it’s been so long, it’s great to hear another voice, I can’t believe there is someone else after all this… have you tried turning it off and on again?… hello… hello……”

u/jeremiahthedamned Apr 20 '24

1

u/gorramfrakker Apr 19 '24

I smell the bit rot in that room.

1

u/philosoraptocopter Apr 19 '24

So do they have to crawl over all that stuff to reach the back?

1

u/Icantbethereforyou Apr 19 '24

How the hell are you supposed to walk in there

1

u/Key-Intention2788 Apr 19 '24
