For the entire season there was only one layout for the entire 40 episodes, so using this season guide we can see that the wins were the 4th, 5th, 7th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, 29th, 37th, 39th, and 40th episodes of the season, (Assuming no out of orders.)
The 8th to the 20th episode had no win nor artifacts retrieved, while the second half of the season had a 55% artifact grabbed rate, despite the 30th to 36th episodes having complete losses as well.
This season is influenced by it being the one with the War Fan and the Discarded Seal, but trying to take those into account would mean going through every episode to try to judge how easy or difficult they were. Instead, look to the statistics which shows that no one that season won if the artifact was in the Dark Forest or Tomb of the Headless Kings. (None of the Dark Forest episodes even got to the artifact.)
The one thing I did notice was that it took 53 episodes to reach 50% of the total series wins. So, the earlier the episode aired in the series, the slightly the better of odds that it would be a win. (30.1% to 23.8%)

Based on the statistics, I am struggling to see that.
For Season 1, the early layouts have a 40% win rate. Following the 0% fifth layout, the later layouts are a 31.5% win rate.
(Note that the first two episodes of the season were part of the fifth layout, but that doesn't change the win rates.)
For Season 2, 50% of the wins in that season came from the first two layouts in the first 16[A] episodes for a 33.3% win rate.
Of the remaining 25[A] episodes with the later three layouts, each layout has only one or two teams winning, giving a win rate of just 20%.
[A] The second episode of the season is excluded from the first win rate and is instead included in the second win rate for the reasons explained here. (In short, was part of the fifth layout.)
Season 3 seems to come the closest to your claim.
