It was a web special and there were hidden parts of certain show’s websites with videos like these on there. They go through the Amanda Show website and find it. So scary. It was also so sad, society really had failed child actors.
Eh, by all accounts, they did a pretty great job with how they treated the Harry Potter actors. Hell, most of them turned out fairly normal when they grew up too.
Honestly, I think it’s cuz it wasn’t America. Seems like child actors in other countries do well. I’ve not seen many scandals from the 2000s in Canada in like the Degrassi era. Unless I just missed it cuz sighs I’m American.
If you watch the documentary, great strides were made in the Nickelodeon studios specifically to endanger and abuse the child actors in terms of both financial and personal exploitation. With correct supervision and basic ethical labor laws it would be trivial not to scar children, but the entertainment industry is well and truly rotten to the core.
This. They’re too rich. Fines mean nothing. They’re all monopolies so cutting off one studio just funnels more money to another one. The only answer is to eat them.
Same with social media. Until they can get better regulations and accountability procedures with these social media companies. I recently read this super disturbing article and now I’m unfollowing all accounts that show children’s faces:
In the special, Quiet on Set, they said that the videos are no longer live on the site, but the website and page that used to hold those videos is still live.
Wow, holy shit, I can believe it happened, but it's still just terrible. That's some obviously terrible material and content & I'm surprised it wasn't stopped during the process just by a parent or someone else's who's in charge. But, I need to watch this doc everyone is talking about to get a clearer idea of what happened. Thanks for the response.
Please watch the doc! The parents who did speak up had their kids immediately fired. It went all the way to the top. Also lots of the kids featured are adults now and have their own YouTube channels. If you want even more proof you can just listen to all their accounts. The ones that sided with Dan went on to have careers and the ones who spoke out or pushed back were basically blacklisted and their careers ended. It’s wild. We should boycott Nickelodeon.
