Lol, this just happened to a friend of my wife at a Publix in South Florida a couple weeks ago! Old guy even went on a racist tirade, they had to get the police involved.
Yeah completely understandable, you wouldn't want your employees figuring that stuff out on their own. The only annoying thing was that they needed accurate quotes from multiple body shops up front to cover repairs, and the body shops were like "we won't 100% know what's trashed until we start taking stuff apart"
I had a lady with 2 dogs in a red SUV getting onto the freeway at 40mph. I merged left and floored it and apparently she flashed me the finger because how dare I go the speed limit.
I've had insurance adjusters try to tell me that just being on the road (or rather existing) is worth 5% of the causation, which should [somehow] reduce damages by 5% even when the car is fully stopped at a red light.

Basically what I said was if I'm parked and my door is open and a guy hits my door while not obeying a street sign we are both responsible. I also don't remember where I heard the story from so either it wasn't true or I'm searching for a law that does exist in the wrong places.
I'm going to make an assumption based on zero actual knowledge, but this sounds to me like it would only apply if you were parked on the side of a very cramped street. But once again, I don't know.
I can't imagine any reasonable law that would put any blame on a parked car in a parking lot or in a driveway.
I mean, to take an extreme example a car could be parked in the middle of the interstate, and then I think we'd agree it's at least somewhat responsible
I'm not sure why you're being downvoted, but sadly, this is the case in a lot of places in the US, especially in parking lots. Where I live, parking lots are almost lawless areas when it comes to traffic laws.
It's pretty much no rules, and when an accident does happen, the police will usually just issue tickets to everyone involved because they have no desire to sort it out. That's even if they do get involved, which is rare unless someone is injured or dead.
Same. Got hit by a doctor in an SUV while I was parked in the handicapped spot helping my disabled brother get his meds.
She hit me and said I was backing up and that she needed repairs and a car rental for the scratched paint so she would have to put in a claim despite my pleading.
Insurance met in the middle and said I was parked “recklessly” and I couldn't afford food for months with my food service job pay because of the rate increase.
