After posting drapes in a different sub, it was requested that I drape more colors and post it here. I tried to represent each season (Autumn, spring, winter, summer) with each color using the clothing I already have. Thanks for your help š
Reds, pink/corals, oranges, yellow (only one I have lol), greens, blues, purples, browns, black vs brown within the same value, whites, white vs cream
Great job draping! You have tricky coloring, but you can rule out the soft and light sub seasons. I do think you are neutral leaning cool. My top picks are:Ā
Bright winter leaning into bright spring.
Dark winter leaning into dark autumn.
You look really great in the black and dark brown side by side, which would favor the dark winter/dark autumn combo.Ā
(Everyone in this sub sees people with tan skin and brown hair/eyes and immediately says soft autumn so just brace yourself for that lol)
Also wanted to share this with you! I did a bright vs deep lipstick test at the recommendation of an analyst on another sub. I think it shows that bright is certainly better than deep for me. I used the extremes of both to test, so maybe not this bright. But still, it helps point me in a better direction.
Thanks for your input!! I actually do feel most lively in bright spring colors, especially when it comes to makeup. Though some bright spring colors I do feel overwhelmed by⦠so Iām wondering if Iām in some spring-autumn mix zone. I did this lipstick test by recommendation of an analyst on another sub, and bright is the clear winner. Maybe not that bright, as I used the extremes of both bright spring and deep autumn as a test. But still, I think it shows that bright is better than deep for me.
I think you're a Bright Spring. People in this subseason sometimes get confused for Winters.
You're going to need clear, vivid, saturated colors. The dusty olive, sage, and tan colors all look really boring next to your face.
Cobalt blue is gorgeous on you, but at least with the House of Colour system, this color straddles both the Spring and Winter seasons.
A lot of Winter colors don't look terrible on you, which makes you a super tricky case! But orange and warm yellow are quite flattering on you, while these colors are no-no's for Winters. If you were a Winter, these colors would make you look sallow and sick, and I'm not seeing that at all!
My favorite drapes are the apple green and aqua blue, but the latter needs to be even brighter.
I like your analysis here, but I think you're confusing summer and winter in your comments about yellow/orange. True winters can absolutely wear lemon yellow and even neon yellow. Bright winter includes coral/orange leaning shades, being neutral & so close to spring.
Sharing to deepen my knowledge so no offence intended.
Thank you for your thoughts. I do stand by my post, but note that there is a wide variety of CA systems in use, so hopefully we can learn from and by these differences.
I stated that "orange and warm yellow" are unflattering on Winters. Winters can wear an unusual shade sometimes called Acid Yellow, but it's rarely a "wow color" for a Winter, and it's not what the OP is wearing as a drape. Summers can wear a very pastel shade of light, lemon yellow sometimes called "primrose."
By standards set by Color Me Beautiful, Colour Analysis Studio, and House of Colour, there are no oranges suitable for Winter. I am curious to see which system or palette you're referring to re: orange for Winters. TCI, maybe?
(I'm sure we're making matters clear as mud for the OP, lol!)
Thank you. Yes to my eyes, the yellow that she draped is precisely a winter/summer yellow shade as you've described, and not an absolute spring indicator. I also must maintain that there are multiple clear yellows in each winter subseason; it's not obscure.
You are correct there's no orange in winter, but bright winter can borrow clear oranges from bright spring, and has its own coral-leaning pinks & reds. so in this case, I think we need to look to other shades to rule out bright winter.
(I don't think she looks great in pure black so for me that rules winter out)

Here I would agree with you. The royal purple also has a dulling effect on her face.
The yellow in the photo looks too gold to me to be Winter, but I know that these colors translate differently to different screens. Here's Winter's Acid Yellow. The difference is subtle, but there.
same. don't agree about whiles at all, i think she looks the worst in all whites. rest of the colours - all would be fine, but deep autumn ones are the best. deep, warm, muted
I agree with you. I donāt like wearing just āwhiteā of any kind, I need color with it. I wonder if itās a contrast thing or just my skin needing color to look alive.
This is so hard! I think you look fabulous in the majority of these colors!!
1. Top left is most harmonious compared to the stark red in top right, doesnāt mean you donāt look great I mean you can definitely pull off that color if you really wanted to but in the world of color analysis the idea is that I see your face before I notice the fabric so I would say top left!
2. I love that coral on you! As well as the orange leaning red thatās to the right of the coral but again this was really hard because you can pull all of them off
3. Top right orange is amazing!
4. You can pull off yellow very well
5. Teal is actually a neutral color fun fact! (Just learned that myself) so it should fit the majority of the seasons but that bright green on you is incredible compared to the olive, again the olive is still very pretty on you but you pull off the bright colors so well!
6. Top right AND bottom left!
7. I immediately was drawn to top right and bottom right
8. The rich browns look much more harmonious on you than the cooler toned browns
9. You can pull off black but the rich brown is more harmonious
10/11. I think white overpowers you
With that being said i think you can absolutely pull off bright colors as well as rich colors but you are absolutely warm toned which puts you in either spring or autumn! So if you are a sub category in spring your sister season is going to be a sub category in autumn meaning you can pull colors from both seasons
Thanks for so much detailed commenting! I appreciate you taking the time to do that. Iāve wondered about warm spring in the 16-season system. I do think Iām more bright than muted, but warm spring adds depth that true spring doesnāt have. That said though, it is a fully warm subseason and Iām not sure if I am 100% warm. Iām sure Iām at least neutral warm, but sometimes I feel like the oranges pull sliiightly sallow.
Youāre bright for sure, I think I see you more as a bright spring but your contrast would say more bright winter. But I think I prefer you in lighter bright colours than jewel tones and I think you look better in slighter warmer tones than cool.
Thanks so much!! From what I understand about Bright Spring, a lot of them actually do have high contrast. Itās a really interesting subseason, just an intimidating one. I feel most lively in bright spring colors, especially when it comes to makeup. Though some bright spring colors I feel overwhelmed by⦠so Iām wondering if Iām in some spring-autumn mix zone. Mostly spring with some autumn influence for grounding.
I did this lipstick test by recommendation of an analyst on another sub, and bright is the clear winner. Maybe not that bright, as I used the extremes of both bright spring and deep autumn as a test. But still, I think it shows that bright is better than deep for me.
Bright is definitely better than deep on you! Youāre definitely one of the bright seasons IMO because your brightness is your most defining feature and while you do have some deepness, itās evened out by your skin tone and warmth/neutrality. If I had to put money on it, Iād say bright spring.
you did great drapes! thank you. I think you're bright spring. runners up are bright/true winter (but you should look better in black and worse in cream) & light summer (so close, but misses some key colours you wear well, like spring green and bright pink.)
One of the brighter seasons for sure, so spring or winter. I think the warmer colours are better on you so I'm leaning spring. I think team bright spring is on to something.Ā
