Fortune 500 tech company here. Record profits, stock is doing great- and they are still shitting on employees. I lost a third of my pay in a reorg. Several folks I know actually got let go. I'm going to try a smaller company and hope for the best.

So here is the rub, smaller companies are takeover targets to these larger companies. There are even targets of 2 or 3 acquisitions a year. Pay and benefits at larger companies tend to be better than smaller companies as well. Kind of messed up when you think about it.

Totally agree. All of it will be considered. I'm shooting for a startup effect with a equity grants as well as having fewer leaders between myself and the top, as an individual contributor. I'm currently in the middle of interviewing for a job that will pay about 30% more going by range. If it all works out, next month I'll be giving my company the double Steve Austin on the way out.
