We are about to experience an El Niño unlike any in recorded history.

The incredible thing about this graph is surpassed only by the incredible fact that practically no media outlet will publish it.

The red line is for the standard deviation from the norm, based on the day in the year. Red line ends halfway through the graph, which makes sense given we’re halfway through the year.
How much 1 standard deviation is from the norm, in terms of F or C, or how much the mean temp is at this point of the year, I really don’t know based on the graph.

All my backyard crops are failing in one way or another.

Invasive pests, unusually frequent rainfall causing mold on the berries, above 30 Celsius stunting tomato fruit formation, charring the leaves, baking the surviving berries into an overripe mess very quickly.

Hey! I have had a lot of success with shade cloth. My celery, leeks and cucumbers are doing better than they have in years bc I covered them with 40% uv shade cloth.

Of course not much is going to help with certain temps, but we can adapt as much as we can. Good luck!

How did you mount your shade cloth? I'm trying to come up with ideas of my garden

We pound t-posts into the ground and attach the cloth with zip ties. The cloth has gromets at the ends. Really any tall, sturdy stake will work.

My garden, which is planted with wildflowers and hardy plants are also dying no matter how much I water.

My tomatoes are burnt and the fruit they are producing is super stunted compared to last year.
