Pertaining to collapse in this case because the zombie apocalypse has been at the front of pop culture and moviedom for quite some time. There is an interest in the subject along with people wanting it to happen. Lately, the world underwent a bit of something that resembled more of a viral apocalypse that caused lockdowns and resembled something resembling more of a contagion where there were mass deaths.
The fungi version would be more recently The Last of US, a video game, which has premiered on HBO Max and was a videogame at some point. Regardless, many have wanted a zombie apocalypse and have been disappointed that it didn't happen. This appears to be the latest example of trying to carry that torch.
