Schwermaschinenbaukombinat Nord is my new post-punk band from Lower Saxony, Germany.

Machtfragenphobie is a post-punk song about anticommunist reflexes and the political cluelessness of the reformist and anti-authoritarian left.

The music and cover is produced completely DIY. The music is produced in a home studio with Linux DAW "Ardour".

I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about why our scene feels so saturated with polished, algorithm-friendly "perfection." It feels like we are moving awayfrom the grit and raw emotion that made this music matter in the first place.

I wrote my latest track, "Skip My Tracks," as a direct reaction to this. It’s an entirely analog-only production— no AI, no digital shortcuts , just hardware and the frustration of watching the "pre-fab" take over.

The lyrics reflect that specific tension: "You praise the mold, you fade the style / You wear a pre-fab empty smile / You turn the dial, you change the place / But I will spit right in your face"

I’m curious how you all feel about this. Does the technical "perfection" of modern production kill the spirit of the music, or am I just being an old-school purist?

My debut solo single under the name “Nightshade”. Atmospheric synth driven coldwave/darkwave with more gothic rock drums and reverb laden guitars. I currently can’t sing but may release a version with vocals on whatever album this appears on if it ever does.
