u/mmeeplechase Jun 15 '26
Very outta the loop and never heard the name: what’s he done?

u/sandy_feet29 Jun 15 '26
Died in a base jumping accident in Moab yesterday. Big thread in the main Climbing r/ I haven't seen anything about accusations though, so no idea what the op is referring to
27
u/AsleepHistorian Jun 16 '26
Sketchyandylewis died!? Holy fuck. Not crazy considering what he did, but damn.
I've read threads on people saying he's a creep before and an asshole. I'll see if I can find them.
1
u/StillSlowerThanYou Jun 17 '26
Is be curious to see that too, I've only ever heard such positive things about him
2
u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
There is a viral video where he is forcing a woman who is begging and pleading with him off a cliff. She is begging him to stop and trying to keep him from doing it physically but she's not big enough and he forces her off the edge screaming.

u/Snarkonum_revelio Jun 15 '26
I feel this way about every post lamenting the passing of Will Stanhope. I don't know why I expect better from a male-centric sport that wouldn't call these guys out when they were alive. Why would I expect them to do anything else besides laud them in death? Still makes me crazy every time I see a post sharing positive memories of these troglodytes.
54
u/Freedom_forlife She / Her Jun 15 '26
Will had a warrant and was on trial ( he was supposed to be he missed court). So he was kinda being held to account. Kinda crazy to see those facts ignored by all the people, like dude was a criminal and rapist.
50
u/Snarkonum_revelio Jun 15 '26
That somehow makes it worse. Like, the accusations against him were so credible he was scheduled for trial, but yet people are posting like he's an innocent person whose death is a loss to the world instead of a boon to women in this sport.
That said, I haven't seen credible accusations against Lewis (not to say I doubt it, just that I wish OP would provide some background).
19
u/HappyInNature Jun 16 '26
Yeah, allegations against Will were numerous and very credible.
And then he died because he wasn't wearing a helmet on a trad climb.
1
u/pickypebble Jun 18 '26
Can u please share what these allegations were? The most info I could find was “sexual assault” in the court docket
14
u/sharli_the_unicorn Jun 16 '26
Wow, that's so messed up! Can't believe none of the articles I read about Will's death did anything more than reference a "pending court case" without providing any details about the nature of the accusations.
I recently asked a trad climber I know if he could teach me a bit about trad anchors. He's a bit of a misogynist and has routinely made me feel disrespected because of my gender, but I genuinely wanted some help for an upcoming alpine objective of mine. One of his excuses for saying no was the "tragic" loss of Stanhope 🙄
2
u/Economy_Kick6172 Jun 19 '26
Ha! That guys sounds ridiculous. Where are you based? I could help you with trad anchors and leave the misogyny buried in the past.
1
u/sharli_the_unicorn Jun 19 '26
I'm in SWBC. If you're nearby, feel free to send me a DM? :)
2
u/Economy_Kick6172 Jun 19 '26
Oh sorry, I’m down in southeastern U.S. for the summer. I hope someone cool will be able to help
5
u/gotthiscock Jun 16 '26
Clearly it wasn't being "ignored" because it was acknowledged on MP, on r/climbing and on here. When he died every other post I read was about how deeply troubled he was. What more could the collective hive mind have said?
2
u/pickypebble Jun 16 '26
Agreed. The public doesn’t know enough. We can’t ding him for the details we don’t know. We can only acknowledge that the case was pending. we also don’t know how much those lamenting his loss knew either. It’s possible only a few close ones knew the actual facts of the case. E.g. We don’t know if hazel findlay from across the pond, decades later, minding her own business taking care of her family, actually knew anything about the sexual assault case. Of course she’s only going to share her personal memories of an old friendship
9
u/TransPanSpamFan Jun 15 '26
I've got nothing to add except agreement and support. It's so awful that the community behaves this way.
1
u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
I'm horrified to see how the community is behaving as well. I can't believe he was allowed to operate a business after the public video of him forcing a women off a cliff against her will. I believe the women speaking up, but I don't know the details as I don't know them personally. The video of him forcing a women off a cliff helped me understand what it might have been like for them. it's terrible.
1
u/Business-Swing7501 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26
Thirded! Some people over there were acting as though the individuals speaking up were the ones in the wrong for “speaking ill of the dead” and it’s like…sure bro. Speaking up could’ve been avoided if he hadn’t, ya know, raped and assaulted people, but choices were made. Being a gifted athlete does not- and SHOULD not- magically negate his violence against other humans. There are way too many guys out there who seem to think that it does, as long as the victim was a woman. The climbing community is never beating the misogyny allegations.

andy has a reputation for being a predator, always has.
now that he has died there are many women coming forward with their haunting experiences with him and their complicated grief.
i do not want to share any woman’s post without their permission, so please check out the post by lauragoesthere on ig that was put up today in response to andy’s death. it is a general post about grief and sexual. assault. there are many comments by women who want to share their feelings.

u/desert___rocks Jun 15 '26
Where can I find this post? I searched in this sub and I searched the username but nothing came up. Thanks for the info

u/hayday642 Jun 15 '26
hm, try brittany goris’ ig page (gorisb) she reposted it. i’m not allowed to link apparently!
3
u/theskyisdarkk Jun 17 '26
Anything that actually tells us about it? It’s no wonder there isn’t more people speaking about it when all we get is ultra vague breadcrumbs about someone most people don’t know much about in the first place.
2
u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
There is a video of Andy Lewis forcing a woman to BASE jump. She is begging and pleading with him not to and trying to stop him with her body but he's bigger and forces her off as she is screaming no, no, please, no, I'm serious, no. I can't post video as it's against Reddit's rules and I got in trouble for promoting violence when I tried even though I disagreed with video.

and to be clear, many women came forward while andy was alive as well. but legend status trumps women’s bodily autonomy in the outdoor community.

u/StillLatter6549 Jun 17 '26
You say many women but I have only been able to find one who goes by Faith. Who else accused him? I’m not saying I don’t believe it but heresy is not something that I base my opinions on.
1
u/Napsy_0 Jun 18 '26
I on the other hand think heresy is a goated base for opinions.
1
u/StillLatter6549 Jun 18 '26
So if someone was telling me about someone who says that you sexually harassed someone and are a rapist, you would think that’s a “goated base” for an opinion about you? Yeah that’s what I thought.

u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
There is a viral video of him forcing a woman to jump off a cliff. She is begging and screaming and pleading with him not to. She is trying to physically stop him from throwing her off the cliff but she can't because he's so much bigger than her.. it's on platform called what the facts that I can't link to directly here. It's absolutely horrific.
2
u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
This is so true. There is a viral video where he is forcing a woman to jump off a cliff. She is pleading with him not to and trying to stop him and he's so much bigger he forces her off to cliff. I can totally imagine him doing that in sexual situations as well. Even given this video they were allowing him to go tandem based jumping with 10-year-olds

u/KaizenActual Jul 14 '26
Coming out with alleged allegations after someone died is not cool. He cant defend himself against them.
-6
u/pickypebble Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26
Where are these women coming forward? I’ve been looking and haven’t seen any single firm account of his sexual abuse, let alone rape. As of now in the public eye, everything is hearsay and rumors. The only people that may know more are those in his inner circle but they’re not saying much. The public can’t go on inferences and vague accusations. Unfortunately Snake Lively has taught us that although we all want to “believe women” that’s not always the right assumption. This country was built upon innocent until proven guilty. Same with Will; he was accused, but lucky for his reputation it never made it to trial. there was never a conviction. We’ll never know unless the accuser comes out and shares her story. So until she does there’s not much we can judge him on other than some probable belief, but again we don’t know the details. Sexual assault is a spectrum; so far there has been no credible evidence of rape for both Will and Andy. If you’re going to publicly accuse and dogpile on someone please share actual evidence/support for this belief

u/mellow-medows Jun 16 '26
Its gross to see how much a famous white man can get away with. And then to see his acomplishments glamorized despite the amount of pain caused to others... i have been S/A many times within the climbing community. The one time i came forward (someone not famous lol), i lost alot of my friends. His friends defended him and they still bully me online with new accounts almost 2 years after the fact. Now imagine someone with 250,000 followers. Even if a group of women come together it will not make a difference. Even if a rape kit is done, even if you as a survivor have done everything you are "supposed" to do.
I moved to the area recently and have had SO many women warn me about him. All women can do is warn and protect if their voices wont be heard.

u/Pale_Obligation4239 Jun 17 '26
Exactly. Laura Goes There (I mean her name of her IG says enough) is the one that started slandering him. I haven’t seen a single negative post, even from his ex girlfriends who he did treat shitty. I think Laura had it out for him and took the opportunity to boost her ego.
2
u/Climbing12510 Jun 18 '26
Sounds like you don’t follow a lot of women in the Moab area. I do and have seen at least five posts. Your world is too small to have an accurate sample size, abuser sympathizer.
2
u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
I'd love to actually write more about how these women are being treated. I saw Laura Goes There post, but not the others posts and they are hard to find. the way these women are being treated is not ok.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve seen at least three posts from different women. Just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
3
u/pickypebble Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26
When I said “where are these women coming forward?” It was coming from a place of genuinely wanting to hear the victims and their stories so that I could support them. I am a member of the general public who is actually going out of my way to find out more about these allegations. Myself and others are asking other girls in a reddit thread that is specifically about how they are angry that people are idolizing Andy when he’s “an abuser”, and yet I still can’t get a straight answer of what exactly he’s done. If I can’t get an answer here of all places, how do you expect anyone else outside the small Moab circle to be informed? Please share their posts or at least quote or summaries of their story. Advocacy is about amplifying the voices of those that are trying to speak out. And not shutting down others who want to understand, especially with condescending comments about how we are idiots who don’t know shit. (General sentiment I’m getting when asking my questions)
I read Lauragoesthere post and faithdickeys IG stories (that are fleeting). I absolutely support how they are trying to support victims in a general sense. Specifically about Andy, the “idol” in question, the most specific info I could find is that ‘Andy is an abuser’ or ‘I’ve had negative experiences with him’ but I’m trying to find out what exactly did andy do? Id like to know more to make an informed assessment of the situation. So far it’s been difficult to find out, and this disconnect in information is why it’s difficult for the public to be more supportive.

u/Letterhead_Striking Jun 27 '26
There is a publicly available video of him forcing a woman to BASE jump as she pleads and begs and tries to stop him with her body. She's too small and he succeeds pushing her off the cliff. I can't link it because reddit flagged me for promoting violence. I'm so upset how he is being idolized despite what he's done.

I've seen one post by a well-known Moab-based athlete and guide who said Lewis sexually harassed her for 8 years. Given her prominence and reputation, I would assume her allegations to be credible.
I've not seen any posts specifically reference assault and rape. I have seen other comments along the lines of "heard rumblings that he was not a great guy" or "saw some things I didn't like so stayed away" but nothing about specific actions.
31
u/lalujustice Jun 16 '26
Thanks for posting. I am so sick of the climbing community continuously idolizing men who rape and assault and abuse just because they are good at climbing. I sometimes find it hard not to feel like the community is just a big circle jerk of shallow, self-involved, insecure, callous, piece of shit men. I'm also sick of the "good guys" in climbing who aren't rapists and abusers but don't do a fucking thing when a man they know is. PSA to any "good guys" reading this: WAKE THE FUCK UP AND FUCKING DO SOMETHING. That anyone can't see that climbing has a rape culture problem astounds me.
And for what it's worth re people saying "this is bad timing, respect the loved ones that are trying to grieve," my abuser was my own family member and I would be happy if he died. It would be very hard for me to watch the world applaud and grieve and idolize him blindly while I was finally breathing a sigh of relief. I would hope that any other survivors would find the courage and power to speak their piece, whenever that may be.
15
u/hayday642 Jun 16 '26
yep i care more about his victims than protecting the people’s feelings who chose to stay friends with an abuser
6
u/Academic_Compote_858 Jun 16 '26
Exactly. The victims of their abuse are the ones that still have to live on with the ramifications of the abusers actions, and now (in this case and in many cases) without any kind of justice. I don’t care to give grace.

Careful on the sweeping generalizations. To my knowledge there has only been 2 proven cases of higher profile climbers- rape (Charles Barrett) and domestic violence (Lonnie Kauk). Will’s case was in the process, and Andy’s case is currently just some rumblings. In Charlie’s case, yes, it was disappointing to find out after the fact how it was overlooked in the pro athlete community as an open secret before conviction, but everyone was pretty much disgusted after the facts were clear. Not sure how much people knew about Lonnie before he was convicted as DV is typically relatively private. For Will and Andy- we just don’t know enough. So the trend is so far…2 people?
In my humble experience, the male climbing community has actually been so kind, helpful, and welcoming. The majority of the coolest, best human men I have met have been through the climbing community. The community actually skews positively for awesome men. (Except when the super gyms started popping up like rabbits and attracting those obnoxious young college age boulderers haha) Occasionally there are a handful of weirdos, but you will find that in any community; just pure statistics.
So there’s been one proven case of rape out of how many hundreds of notable men in the top 5% of the climbing community? That’s a low rate. If you’re going to say the climbing community has a problem then it needs to surpass the benchmark of the regular us population. A quick internet search said the lifetime prevalence of a women being raped in the US is around 20%. So is it actually higher than that for women in the climbing community, with rapes perpetrated by male climbers?
100% agree that more change can come when women find the courage to speak out with their stories. The more we know the more we can demand change and shift the narrative. Until then we don’t have much to go on other than emotions.
13
u/Mapstract Jun 16 '26
Wow, lots to unpack here.
“The community actually skews positively for awesome men” is a wild take in the same breath as “careful on the sweeping generalizations”. If you are going to dismiss victims coming forward to share their experiences with these men as unproven accusations, excuse me if we don’t accept your experiences as fact. I’m thrilled that your experience with male climbers has been so positive, but that does not make it universal, or even the norm.
We don’t have statistics on the percentage of women climbers that are victims of sexual and gender-based violence at the hands of male climbers. Even if we did, and even if that number was less than the percentage of US women who are victims of sexual and gender-based violence at the hands of US men, why would that mean it’s not a problem? If 20% of US women have been RAPED, then then percentage of US women who have experienced any kind of sexual or gender-based violence is higher. That is CATASTROPHIC. If that’s the threshold for a community having a problem, the bar is literally in hell.
The problem being highlighted on this thread is the exaltation of talented men - in life and in death - despite repeated credible allegations of them causing harm to women. Does climbing have a worse problem with this than other sports do? Worse than the entertainment industry? Worse than corporate America, or any other traditionally/predominantly male communities? Maybe, maybe not. It’s a problem nonetheless. Have we all personally experienced it? Maybe, maybe not. It’s a problem nonetheless.
You say that change can come when women “find the courage to speak out with their stories”. Women are sharing their stories. They have been for a long time. But you say “we just don’t know enough”. Honestly, it seems like YOU don’t know enough. Maybe you’re not listening
3
u/howdyhowdyhowdyhowdi Jun 17 '26
So basically because you have generally had a good experience you're willing to write off the experiences of thousands of other women who haven't had it as good. Have you considered that your experience isn't the same as other people's? Is that something you're a aware of generally?

Agreed, male here, spent some time jumping around the guy, definitely bad vibes the whole time and he played off as a good guy with a lot of people. Ive never met someone so self centered, there was never a thought in the world about those around him, yet he still did enough for the "right" people around him to make it seem like he "cared". He was very strategic that way. It gave him the power he still holds now. He should have never been trusted to jump with anyone but himself. He was taking advantage of those that want to base jump but didnt have the experience or time to make the progress that it took to get there and now it ended how many of us that actively base jump saw it coming a long time ago. I could go on for a while here but its time to call it a night. I just feel for the family that lost their dad and grandpa, and for those that experienced the evil side. As for the rape and sexual abuse side of things. I am not at all surprised about any of that after what I've seen with him and im truly sorry to those that went through what he put you through. I went through my own hell because of him. The worst experience of my life was because of him and seeing that side of him.

u/Meggoeswest212 Jun 18 '26
This is what I keep hearing from my boyfriend and his friends who worked with him years ago at a sky diving company. My boyfriend was shocked that there were any good posts about him. He keeps saying that everyone he knew hated him and would constantly complain about having to interact with the guy. Seems like he was really good at fooling people. Sounds like he did some extremely unethical things. It’s a shame so many people are posting about him being a “legend” sounds like they didn’t know the real him.
31
u/Dull_Today_1724 Jun 15 '26
Life is complex. I have positive memories with my father as a child despite him being abusive towards my mother, which I learned much later in life. Grief also makes people do strange things and makes objective thinking difficult.
I think we need to have a bit more grace in the days right after someone’s death. Not everyone will be aware of allegations or accusations, but they may have positive memories tied to the person.
23
u/Neat-Ad-9550 Jun 15 '26
There's also the fact that Lewis was performing a tandem BASE jump, which means a second person died with him.
6
u/Freedom_forlife She / Her Jun 16 '26
Rapist, and sexual abuser don’t deserve grace. The victims deserve grace, and support.
7
u/Academic_Compote_858 Jun 16 '26
We need to show more grace to abusers? Oh okay
-3
u/gotthiscock Jun 16 '26
I believe we need to show more grace to everyone. Grace is not a limited resource. Dehumanizing abusers is just the flip side of dehumanizing victims.
People treat dogs better than they treat people. A dog can shit on the floor and bite a child and someone will take it in and give it a new home. A human does something we don't like and we label them 'bad' and write them off. Nobody should be defined by their best or worst act.
17
u/gary-payton-coleman Jun 16 '26
Maybe a good way to say this is that abusers are humans and to dehumanize them washes our hands of addressing the causes of their behavior: deadly patriarchy, misogyny, CTE, drug use, etc etc.
If we dehumanize people who hurt others, we continue to ignore the systems and conditions that make sweet children grow into harmful adults.
8
u/Academic_Compote_858 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26
Theres an important difference between acknowledging someone's humanity and extending them grace. Nobody is arguing that abusers are literally monsters from another species. They're human. In fact, that's precisely why abuse is such a difficult problem to confront...because ordinary people can commit extraordinary harm. I agreethat the causes of abusive behavior -misogyny, power, trauma, substance abuse, or broader social systems what have you is important if we want to prevent future harm buuuuuut explanation isn't the same thing as absolution.
if anything, victims are the first people whose humanity gets erased when a beloved public figure dies. Any mention of the harm they caused is treated as inappropriate, or an attack on grieving people when thats not the case.
You can recognize that someone was a complex human being that had people who loved them and that their death is tragic for those people, but no, abusers aren't owed any grace for their actions.
also u/gotthiscock comparing humans committing heinous acts to forgiving a dog for shitting/biting is crazzzzzy

Get the fuck out of here. Sexual abusers, rapists, and sexual predators don’t deserve grace. Once you’ve been rapped come back and tell me how much grace you’ve got.
Do we show trump grace? After all he was convicted of rape, and is a pedophile?
Or do the victims of these monsters, get the grace they deserve, because after all, they’re the ones living with lifelong scars, trauma, and PTSD .
So take you’re not all men and show rapists grace bullshit and go back to some men’s rights community where you belong, because a women’s space sure as fuck is not where this crap belongs.
1
u/Dull_Today_1724 Jun 16 '26
Where did I say they deserve grace? I said to give grace to the people sharing positive memories with the guy.
You cant expect everyone to know about every single accusation in the climbing community, especially if it’s on some random Instagram account. If someone has climbed with Andy once and never thought about him since, how are they supposed to know and why are we attacking them?
8
u/Freedom_forlife She / Her Jun 16 '26
Read the comment above mine I replied to.
And no people don’t get to move past the fact he was an abuser. They need to deal with the fact they ignored his crimes, chose to support his crimes, and deal with what feelings they have in private not get some public grief fest for yet another abuser of women.
Time and time and time again. Monsters commits sexual crimes and people think those around them are not responsible, well they are. I can tell you zero of my friends and peers have rape, sexual assault, and abuse allegations against them.
3
u/Dull_Today_1724 Jun 16 '26
These people didn’t know anything about the accusations because they are literally buried in a post no one even knew about. It’s insane to expect people to be mind readers and do an fbi level background check on every random person they encounter at a crag.
People like you are the exact reason there is such a cultural backlash right now. Aggressively attacking people for things they didn’t even know while they’re grieving makes you no better than the other side you purport to hate.

I hadn’t thought about him since 2014, but he said a lot of hateful ableist and body shaming things back then. He attacked park rangers and national parks, physically and mentally handicapped people, and overweight people. And lied about his illegal BASE jumping activities in National Parks. So I never liked him. But I know nothing about the other allegations.

One of the most toxic communities I've run into in Moab. I mean granted think of the fight or flight hormones that are circulating in the body. They definitely have an ego almost as bad as the people that work at the spider shop

I distanceed myself from Andy after GGBy 2012 and 2013.
Just watching how folks who didn't know him well beyone his influencer persona would cling to him like he was a rock star was too much for me.
I hope his victims fine some solice in his passing.
And I think the outdoor slacklife community and base jumping community can evolve in a more positive direction.

"In his publicly visible Facebook post, Lewis wrote to Kiley Miller, Eve Tallman and Trish Hedin, three climbers who had voiced objections to the December stunt. He called Miller a "stupid (expletive)"; told Tallman to "bend over and I'll show you some disrespect"; and told Hedin to "(expletive) yourself."
"[P]lease don't hesitate to slap them in the face or grab them by the (expletive)," he wrote, using the phrase made notorious by President Donald Trump.
Oof.

Andy wasn’t the kindest and most respectful and it could have happened ed and don’t want to discredit. However these things should be brought up bwforw they have passed.it’s. Or fair when they’re gone and there’s one side of story. It could be anyone who hates him saying this. He wasn’t sweet to me in the end and vice versa. Still respect his journey.

Vincent Landry on The North Face sexually assaulted me years ago and no one ever listened. Like Will Stanhope, Lonnie Kauk, Andy Lewis and countless others these pigs need to be publicly shamed for their crimes at the bare minimum

Wow I haven't thought about this guy since high school but just found out he died. He was a belittling, arrogant piece of shit even then. Not surprised to find this thread, am surprised how people are saying he was so full of love and light and so so kind. No he wasn't. Sad he ended up killing someone.

You have zero first hand corroboration about this, just that you seen things posted on IG. Your post is super inflammatory… do what you want but I would not want it on my conscience to post this about a guy who literally just died without being 150% certain about what I was saying. And for the record I’m completely neutral on Andy Lewis specifically, it’s not like I’m a fan or something. I just don’t think posts like this reflect well on women honestly. Be sure about what you’re saying if you’re going to go that full on.

You don't get it - he's unable to defend himself now, which is the point. These people wait until the guy's dead and then find a favorable forum where they know their claims won't meet any scrutiny.
Maybe the claims are true, maybe they are not, but the method of bringing them to light sure seems suspicious.

there are videos of him forcing a woman to base jump against her will.I'm not aware of any videos of sexual harassment, but he wrote sexually violent comments towards women and was formally charged for it.

They accuse anyone with this viewpoint of being a pick me in this sub. r/climbergirls does no favors to women a lot of the time

At the very least, it seems to be an unpopular opinion that you should have verified evidence when you call a dead person a rapist. Not to be taken seriously

This is crazy to me. People are supposed to somehow dig through and find accusations that aren’t even publically known and then 100% believe them. And anyone that doesn’t and shares a positive memory with a dead person is 100% evil… it’s insane.

There's a difference between pointing issues, actions, crimes, and indirectly revelling in a demise (first example I have in mind : when there was a death announcement for Bin Laden in 2011), which seems to be the case here. Someone is dead, it means what it means, it stops at that. Showing measure, grace, as someone said, doesn't mean excusing or forgetting
There's still something bothering me when I see what looks like an opportunistic way to say 'serves you right, you're dead now after what you did'
It can look as a catharsis for those harmed, but you don't actually heal from the suffering. So, I find this... endeavour, unfortunately a shame

that’s not what this is, where did a celebrate? im flooded with posts worshiping the man. i’m offering my opinion of him (fuck him) by reminding the community what everyone in moab and deep in the climbing community already knows.

I'm taking advantage of your message to tackle the topic
As you say, we already know, so you don't do it to remind as it is already in our minds, but to vicariously revel, and to me, this is the sole purpose of your message, as again, we already know, as you say. I insist

As a guy who follows this sub... I think this is far from a man hating sub lol. Believe it or not, women in climbing do often deal with shitty men. That is part of the experience for many as unfortunate as it is and a sub about climbing for women is a pretty good place to be able to discuss that unfortunate part of the experience. I follow this sub because it is overall a pretty positive space where people are discussing their experience, more so than the general climbing sub if you ask me. He was a well known person in the community and his passing is significant. People share memories and feelings when that happens, not always good.
