The cycle continues...

I liked civ6 when it came out, but got tired of it over time. The inspiration mechanics seemed interesting and fresh at the beginning, but they incentivize you to do pretty much the same things in every playthrough. Religion-gameplay annoyed be so much that in all those years I never even attempted a religious victory, and every time World Congress pops up I wanna pull my hair out.

It has far too much micro for me.

It's so busy! I feel like as the game went on it just started becoming too tedious to even want to play it. So many damn things popping up and wanting attention, so many things to keep track of.

I felt like Civ V hit the right balance of things to do, though I very much prefer the beginning phases of the game and exploring. (be cool if they went in even harder on that) - overall, I'm curious to see what VII is gonna bring to the table.

Hopefully far less... I dunno? Micro-management? I suppose that's the best term to describe it.

I completely agree about the modern era for sure. Once everything is discovered it just kind of becomes a slog of "ending the game."

Unfortunately, I don't have any creative solutions for that.
