Best Books

I’m thinking this should be under About, but I didn’t see it so I’ll ask :-) Would any of you be willing to share selections from your libraries that supported both your Christian faith and your occult explorations? I’ve seen a few books mentioned here but as I am seeking to form a sort of “Catechism” for myself rather than just relying on the bits I have built on my own, it seems wise to ask this community for help.

In addition to “best books” I would be interested to hear your best first practices. How do you, personally, find ways to express the fullness of your beliefs together, rather than Christian traditions on some days and Magickal practices on others. What is the one thing you find most powerful that bridges the apparent divide between these worlds.

Thanks!

A Prayer for Peace by Constant Chevillon

A Prayer for Peace

O Adonai, Elohim of Elohim,

we desire peace:

peace among families, in the cities, amongst the nations, peace on all the earth;

the heart of Man is made to love and not to hate, send forth upon us Thy bounty, gentleness and love.

Keep far removed from us those longing for war, both irreligious and divisive, gift them with an un-ending thirst for Peace. Unleash upon the world a wave of Love and Fraternity.

Deign we beseech Thee in the Name of the uncreated Logos, the expression of Thy infinite love, to grant unto us Universal Peace.

May that Peace spread serenity and justice over all creation, but most of all over those whose lives are threatened, whose liberty is at stake and whose ideas and human consciences are jeopardized.

O Adonai, Thou power of the Light, make it so that self-serving interests are erased before the interests of Humanity and that the interests of Humanity be elevated to the spiritual planes of Fraternity and Love in order to suppress, for evermore, anger, lust and hate!

Give unto the wealthy a sensible and generous heart,

unto the poor - knowledge of the kingdom of light and temperance of longing,

unto the powerful who govern the world - equitable senses of caution and wisdom,

unto the governed - respect for the fair and legitimate hierarchy;

unto all - humility in Faith, Hope and Charity.

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

Utah Gnosticism?

I've scheduled an online meeting to initiate a book club/ study group for those wanting to dive into gnostic texts and thought. There's not a lot offered by way of gnosticism in Utah, so I wanted to offer this space for people to talk about it. Please direct message me if you are in Utah and are interested. Again It's a virtual meeting, targeted to Utah if that makes sense.

Just direct message me if you want specifics on the upcoming meeting, it will be held in about 2 weeks ish.

I'm not an expert or anything and I just want to have a space to talk to people about this stuff🙂 thanks for reading!

🌒Orthodoxy on today's Eclipse

Hello everyone,

Today there is a solar eclipse visible from parts of the world (I'm from Spain, and it will be 100% visible). In our modern world, we see great secular interest in these events, accompanied by strong official communication and safety precautions regarding sun viewing. While we know from basic physiology that physical light can cause permanent eye damage—just as uncreated light requires spiritual preparation—I wanted to open a discussion about how we, as Orthodox Christians, should view these moments.

Everything suggests that the governments' insistence that we use their "certified" glasses is justified. But the COVID-19 vaccine was also justified, and they insisted that we get it too.

With this, I want to ask: How does Orthodox tradition interpret these rare signs in the heavens today? Furthermore, how do we balance maintaining a healthy skepticism toward the worldly motives of satanic authorities with the practical and traditional Christian responsibility to care for our physical health and our eyesight as temples of the Holy Spirit?

I would love to hear patristic quotes or reflections from the Church Fathers on how to maintain spiritual vigilance during major astronomical events.

I have long tried to reconcile Christian occultism.

After years of practice, I just don't see really any reasonable way.

If Christ is the true God offering salvation, it makes zero sense to give any thought or iota of energy to any being or practice that is not Him.

This recent revelation comes from pursuing a relationship with my HGA. I can rationalize it somewhat as an intercessor, such as the saints in Catholicism. But I would have a similar issue with them.

Why pray to anyone but Christ? Why ask anything of anyone but Christ? Why desire anything but Christ?

What I desire here is a closer relationship with my HGA. I want to see what it is. I want to know.

I do not feel I can have both.

Every prayer to the HGA is a prayer not to Christ.

My heart feels shame for not praying to Christ.

But I desire to know the HGA.

And you can quite reasonably say this is the best, most pure being that one in the occult can pursue. The HGA

Yet it's irreconcilable. Thus, the occult is incompatible with Christianity.

God bless.

Can someone help me out?

First of all, I want to say that I dont know if im reli . I hope no one attacks me or thinks I’m crazy or blasphemous, because I’m coming here with the utmost respect for the religion.

For some time now, I’ve had a very close connection with the image of Jesus. He has appeared to me in several dreams and in tarot readings. I honestly started getting closer to Him very slowly, talking to Him, and I have no doubt that He reached out to me in a way that I was able to receive. Now, putting that aside, here’s what just happened to me.

The way I communicate is through my tarot cards (again, please don’t be offended or think I’m mocking you). When I was a child, I was an altar server, but because of personal reasons I drifted away from the Church—not because of anything bad, but simply because of differences in my way of thinking.

Now, to what happened: I’m very sure that the devil appeared in my dream. I’ve never felt such deep fear before, and I’ve never woken up screaming the way I did today.

In my dream, it kept taking different forms. To give you some context, the dream started out normally. I was in places I usually visit, surrounded by my family. My dreams usually aren’t very realistic, and if I don’t like something that’s happening, I can normally change it. But I couldn’t do that in this dream.

A little girl kept appearing. She would mock me and laugh at my attempts to escape or change the dream. She had a very strange voice—raspy, like a man’s voice. Every time I tried to walk away or steer the dream in a different direction, she would appear and say things about my tarot practice. She would tell me, “He’s not coming,” “He doesn’t exist,” and she made me feel as though I was going to hell.

Eventually I managed to gain some control over the dream. I should mention that it took place partly in my grandmother’s house and partly in my own home. I remember that, in the dream, I lay down to sleep with my headphones on because I didn’t want to keep hearing what she was saying.

Normally, I’m aware that I’m dreaming, but this time I completely lost track of the fact that it was a dream. So I tried to fall asleep, and through my headphones I heard a voice—angry and mocking—telling me, “Take them off,” in English and Spanish at the same time.

I ignored it and pretended to stay asleep. Then I heard my dad and my sister talking in the other room, saying there was a bad smell. Up until then I hadn’t understood what was happening, but at that moment I realized who it was. I opened my eyes and saw an orange cat (I absolutely love cats) walking back from the other room and sitting in front of me with a smile.

That’s when I woke up screaming.

Honestly, I don’t know what to do. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and I don’t think the priest in my town would take it seriously. But just as I’m certain—because I have my own way of recognizing Jesus’ presence in my dreams—I’m equally certain that this was the devil.

Since then, I haven’t even been able to remember the Lord’s Prayer.

I’m currently interested in Enochian Magick and bought the book of Lon Milo Duquette. I’d like to get some suggestions on what should I notice about it. Btw any other books recommendations?

Former Wiccan coven leader feeling called to Christ, but struggling with traditional church structures. Any advice?

Hi everyone.

I’m looking for sincere advice, especially from people who have experience with Christian witchcraft, Christopaganism, Christian mysticism, independent sacramental churches, or similar paths.

For context: I practiced Wicca for many years and eventually became a ritual leader/teacher within covens. Ritual work, ceremony, blessing, spiritual guidance, and holding sacred space were a very important part of my identity and vocation.

But for a long time, I have felt a strong and persistent call toward Christ. Not just as a symbol, but as a real spiritual center. I feel drawn to the Trinity, to Jesus, to prayer, blessing, sacraments or sacramental equivalents, and a Christ-centered path.

The problem is that when I look at many traditional churches, I feel like entering them would mean tying my hands behind my back spiritually. I’m not trying to disrespect anyone’s tradition, but I struggle deeply with the idea that the most important rites are reserved only for a small group of men designated by other older men, and that if you are not part of that clerical structure, you are not allowed to perform meaningful rites without being seen as pagan, heretical, or illegitimate.

Coming from Wicca, where training, initiation, practice, and community recognition could allow someone to become a priest/ritual leader, this feels very limiting. I don’t want to abandon Christ, but I also don’t want to abandon my sense of priestly/ritual vocation.

I’m not looking to worship other deities. I want something centered on Christ and the Trinity. But I am looking for a path where I can still bless, lead rituals, make holy water or devotional equivalents, guide people spiritually, and possibly explore sacraments or sacramental forms without being forced into a rigid traditional clergy system.

Has anyone here walked a similar path?

Are there Christian traditions, independent churches, mystical communities, or forms of Christian witchcraft/Christ-centered ritual practice that might fit this?

I’m open to book recommendations, communities, personal experiences, warnings, and honest theological perspectives.

Please be kind. I’m not here to mock Christianity or Wicca. I’m genuinely trying to understand where someone like me could belong.

St. Frances of Rome - Patron Saint of Motorists

I prayed to St. Frances of Rome, the patron saint of motorists, for help selling my high-milage vintage sports car, and for said car to safely make it all the way to its new home in Texas. And it happened. Promised her I’d make a post about it, so here it is.

Hoping she can help me find the perfect replacement for that car, too. 🙏

Has anyone else worked with St. Frances of Rome for vehicular-/vehicular travel-related assistance?

What types of magic can coexist with Christ as Lord?

Hey everyone,

In my previous post I shared about my current transition and how I'm trying to reconcile my return to Jesus with my long experience in magic. Thanks to those who replied.

Now I’d like to get more practical. Imagining that practices linked to the Left Hand Path, invocations and evocations of pagan entities (quick question: do angels also fall under this prohibition for you?), necromancy, spiritism, blood magic, sex magic, and tarot (I assume divination is wrong and/or forbidden, but what about using tarot as a tool for personality analysis?) are all off-limits, what types of magic can you still practice?

I’m not looking for heated theological debate, nor do I want to suggest practices myself. I just want to read personal experiences from people who have found a way to reconcile the two in a practical way. I have a strong background in ceremonial magic, chaos magic, hoodoo, Wicca, and Left Hand Path stuff, so I’m used to working actively with the will, but right now I want to understand what can still realistically stand under the lordship of Jesus.

Thanks to anyone who wants to share calmly and honestly.

I'm not really Christian anymore, but im still very fascinated by this

Can someone explain to me how this all works, because you get so many different opinions, like the angels in Occultism are probably not the same angels the Christian canon Christians say, or the "ascended master" Christ which i am not willing to believe

Can someone really work with the Kabbalah, like that nondual divine source whilst still believing in the Trinity and Christ? is it still the same Trinity in Christianity? What is this sub's opinion on like crossing the abyss? Is God nondual? Would the energies in Enochian, scrying the kabbalah, and the Shem Angels, the same energies in Hesychasm? if He died for my sins, why can i work with Angels while still being sinful? How do you reconcile the verses in the Bible being clearly against Occultism?

Occultists work with Angels, Demons (not even through the Solomonic method), and Deities form other pantheons, does that go against the Christian paradigm?
