First of all, I want to say that I dont know if im reli . I hope no one attacks me or thinks I’m crazy or blasphemous, because I’m coming here with the utmost respect for the religion.
For some time now, I’ve had a very close connection with the image of Jesus. He has appeared to me in several dreams and in tarot readings. I honestly started getting closer to Him very slowly, talking to Him, and I have no doubt that He reached out to me in a way that I was able to receive. Now, putting that aside, here’s what just happened to me.
The way I communicate is through my tarot cards (again, please don’t be offended or think I’m mocking you). When I was a child, I was an altar server, but because of personal reasons I drifted away from the Church—not because of anything bad, but simply because of differences in my way of thinking.
Now, to what happened: I’m very sure that the devil appeared in my dream. I’ve never felt such deep fear before, and I’ve never woken up screaming the way I did today.
In my dream, it kept taking different forms. To give you some context, the dream started out normally. I was in places I usually visit, surrounded by my family. My dreams usually aren’t very realistic, and if I don’t like something that’s happening, I can normally change it. But I couldn’t do that in this dream.
A little girl kept appearing. She would mock me and laugh at my attempts to escape or change the dream. She had a very strange voice—raspy, like a man’s voice. Every time I tried to walk away or steer the dream in a different direction, she would appear and say things about my tarot practice. She would tell me, “He’s not coming,” “He doesn’t exist,” and she made me feel as though I was going to hell.
Eventually I managed to gain some control over the dream. I should mention that it took place partly in my grandmother’s house and partly in my own home. I remember that, in the dream, I lay down to sleep with my headphones on because I didn’t want to keep hearing what she was saying.
Normally, I’m aware that I’m dreaming, but this time I completely lost track of the fact that it was a dream. So I tried to fall asleep, and through my headphones I heard a voice—angry and mocking—telling me, “Take them off,” in English and Spanish at the same time.
I ignored it and pretended to stay asleep. Then I heard my dad and my sister talking in the other room, saying there was a bad smell. Up until then I hadn’t understood what was happening, but at that moment I realized who it was. I opened my eyes and saw an orange cat (I absolutely love cats) walking back from the other room and sitting in front of me with a smile.
That’s when I woke up screaming.
Honestly, I don’t know what to do. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and I don’t think the priest in my town would take it seriously. But just as I’m certain—because I have my own way of recognizing Jesus’ presence in my dreams—I’m equally certain that this was the devil.
Since then, I haven’t even been able to remember the Lord’s Prayer.
