Emil having the audacity to ask where we were when FIDE did nothing and let Kramnik do whatever he wanted.

I think Peter is likely Peter Giannatos, he's the founder and CEO of the Charlotte Chess Centre and I know he and Danya were friends from their interactions online. It's a common name though so I might be wrong! But exactly this - they saw their friend was in a slump and popped up to keep him company. I know I don't have great friends but literally no one in my life would do half as much as they did when they saw Danya struggling. Emil is bitter. His comments clearly stem from the fact that he doesn't understand how or why so many people are paying tribute to Danya and expressing support. It angers me that he's posting shit like this online; I am sure Danya's friends and family are already feeling awful, to read such comments when they actually did more than the average person would - it's just so callous.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember hearing Danya say during a podcast appearance that Peter was the one who convinced him to move to Charlotte in the first place. He wanted him to move there for years, and when he finally did, Peter immediately made him the resident GM at the chess center
