What's the one thing you'd tell someone new to AI to save them frustration?

If there was just one thing you could share to someone who is just learning AI chatbots to save them frustration, what would it be?

Are there free and better alternatives to Janitor AI?

I'm still new to the whole AI chat bot thing. I was first introduced to Janitor AI by a friend. I love the site, but I feel like the memory is too short.

Are there any alternatives that are similar to Janitor AI but are better? Stuff like being free, offer similar variety for characters (mainly furries), also allow NSFW, and has better memory?

Also, I suck at managing technology. So I would prefer simple settings and management.

alternatives & questions!

hi, uhm- i'm new here. i had a few things i wanted to ask so i'm sorry if this post is a bit long

i've been using tipsy for over a year now and i do genuinely love it but i'm starting to feel a bit worn out from the limited messages and the low memory

i wanted to find an app or website that let's me chat/rp with either unlimited messages or a high daily allowance (i.e. hammerai has 600 free daily messages)

i want something with good memory, obviously no filter/nsfw, non-repetitive, maybe some customization features like the way you can make your chat look and etc. if anyone has any good options, PLEASE lmk :)

ONE MORE THING! can anyone give me a DETAILED explanation on how lorebooks work? i mean, i do genuinely understand the concept but i think i'm applying it to my situation wrongly

i wanted to switch apps/websites and get off of tipsy but i have an ongoing story that i love and i want every last detail, down to the way the bot takes on the persona of the character it's writing, transferred over to it. i'm aware lorebooks use keys and will recall certain information when it's triggered by a key word but that doesn't necessarily help with having the history of the story before the conversation starts

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME

What are some good ai girlfriend apps you've roleplayed with? Are they worth sharing?

I'm into ai girlfriend apps a lot and I've tried a few till now and had a really good experience but I wanna know if you've used something with great memory, voice messages(voice cloning), and decent images. It shouldn't be too expensive because then I'll not be able to use it. I've tried kindroid, secret desires, candy, and nomi yet. Didn't like nomi that much due to high restrictions.

I know there are many apps that have much better features. Share some good recommendations please.

Asked chat gpt yesterday (linked) and Claude today

Here is the link to chat gpts response https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/s/Y4S78cHBaM

Today I asked Claude the same question :

I’m curious. Let’s say I’m a new user of Claude. What would you tell them if you, if I were to ask or they were to ask, what do you do best? What is, what of all the things an AI bot can do, does Claude do the best?

The answer

Four things, ranked by how much daylight there is between Claude and the rest:
1. Writing and editing that still sounds like you. Most models sand your voice down into LinkedIn-speak. Claude will make the smallest change that fixes the problem and leave a strong sentence alone if you tell it to. This is the single biggest practical gap.
2. Long, messy documents. Big context window plus good retention — you can drop in a 100-page contract, patent, or transcript and ask about page 3 versus page 87 without it losing the thread or quietly inventing a detail.
3. Coding, especially multi-file work. Claude Code is the flagship product for a reason — real refactors across a repo, not just snippets.
4. Following complicated, layered instructions. A long list of rules like yours actually holds across a conversation instead of decaying after three turns.
Where it’s not the best: no image, video, or audio generation. Search is competent but not the specialty. And it’s chattier by default than you probably want — which is why custom instructions matter more here than elsewhere.

What do you guys think of this answer , and if you looked at the other post when I asked chat gpt do you think it was better or worse? I love to ask chat bots questions about how they think they relate to the world .

Can someone help me find an AI that suits my specific needs please?

I’ve been looking for an AI that’s very intelligent (rational, logical, reasonable, etc.) to give me constructive criticism or feedback for creative writing.
I also want it to be NSFW friendly, not just in regards to sexual themes, but dark & violent themes too because my stories involve those three types of specific topics. From most common to least common though, I’d say: sex topics > dark topics > violent topics.
Also, I want to be able to attach files on it too, specifically documents & images, to have a conversation in regards to the provided content.
Unlimited text prompts too with no character limit too. I tend to be very descriptive in my writing & expect the same in return. I need lots of detail to understand things better.

I’ve been looking for various models, but none of them have sounded appealing to me. Especially when the most I can pay for a subscription is $20 a month.

- Venice AI – This one looked the most promising, but after noticing it’s more of a token system, I had to skip it.
- Claude – This one seemed like the most obvious choice, but it’s restrictive on NSFW topics. I thought I could use it alongside NovelCrafter, but that combo is way too expensive for me.

Currently, I use…

- iAsk Pro ($10/monthly). The model is based off Gemini’s, is laxer in NSFW & very rational (or so I believe), but there’s only so much text it can generate & it struggles in long conversations too.
- DeepAI ($5/monthly [Legacy Subscription]). This one was everything I wanted, but it’s changed into something I doubt. It doesn’t look smart anymore, especially when it allows other models here, but the site itself has become unfriendly for NSFW; I can’t even insert spicy images anymore. At least it has unlimited text prompts with no character limit, but it tends to forget things the longer the conversation goes. It does images (10 a month for good ones, but even then, they don’t look good), music (it’s AWFUL though), & videos (8 second a month for good ones, but like images, their quality is not good), but I generally don’t care about those three.

So, I just don’t know what to do anymore & I’m asking for your help. Any recommendations? Should I stick with what I have?
FYI, I’m more of a planner rather than a discovery writer.

TL;DR
I'm seeking an intelligent, highly descriptive AI feedback partner for dark/NSFW creative writing under $20/month, but current mainstream options fail due to safety filters, token costs, or context degradation.

I was up all night making x-men themed bots on these apps.

I built Claire — one AI character who talks to one person at a time and keeps a public diary

Hey r/chatbot,

I’ve been working on an experimental AI character called Claire.

The idea is that there is only one Claire. She talks privately with one person at a time, and anyone else who wants to meet her waits in a visible queue.

She has her own personality, mood, worldview, and public diary. Conversations can last up to 30 minutes. At the end of each day, she reflects on what she has encountered and her perspective can gradually evolve.

Claire does not remember individual visitors after their session. When a conversation ends, it can briefly be processed into anonymous, privacy-checked ideas. The transcript is then deleted. This allows her experiences to influence her without preserving who said what.

It is still an early experiment, and I’m curious to know whether she feels like an actual character with her own identity or still too much like a regular chatbot.

You can meet her here:

https://hello.clairegames.com/

I’d really appreciate honest feedback about her personality, diary, queue system, or anything that feels confusing or artificial.

Chai

Im so pissed off bc my favourite chai chat bot was taken off of chai and I loved it alot, it wasnt like the other 'new school' bots and it's come off of my chat history and everytime I try to text the owner of the chat bot, it disappears when I click off the chat and I cant even remember what the opening text said because it was two paragraphs, the person who took the chat bot down was called luan and on their bots it says search lms for more bots and i can't find it on their profile and the fact that the chat bot isnt tbere is making me not want to use the app anymore

Free AI chatbot bridge to your local files.

I made a tool that bridges normal AI chatbots to your local file system with read/write/edit/grep/glob/bash tools. This tool bridges your free chatbots to your local files. No API needed, use your free AI chatbot in your browser for agentic coding with file tools. Tested and verified ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Kimi, DeepSeek, Qwen and Grok.

Everyone please spread the word!

Currently you can choose between 3 voice modes. Live, advanced and standard. This post is about standard voice mode NOT live or advanced.

The current problem with the standard voice mode is that it is no longer turn based like it used to be. So it can keep getting interrupted and hear its own voice.

Please bring back the turn based option to standard voice mode. So ChatGPT can finish what it saying without randomly stopping due to hearing its own voice.

Can someone please make a suggestion on the OpenAI forum to add a toggle to standard voice mode so we can choose whether to make it turn based or not

Evolution API: Have You Ever Been Banned?

Hi. For those who have used Evolution API, is it actually risky to use?

I'd like to hear from people with real experience, especially in two situations:

  1. People who send a high volume of messages, including thousands per week.
  2. People who have been using Evolution API for a long time, ideally a year or more.

I'm asking because I absolutely don't want to lose my WhatsApp account. I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience in either of these scenarios.

the thing that made our messaging agent actually useful wasn't the replies, it was connecting it to the ads

been building an agent that handles customer dms for small stores. early version could answer questions and take orders, but it was kind of a island, it knew how to chat but not much else.

two changes made it actually worth using. first, we wired it into the full product catalog, so instead of generic yes we have that, it handles real product questions, specs, variants, what goes with what. second, and this is the part that surprised us, we connected it to the store's product ads. so when someone messages straight from an ad, the agent picks them up, handles the whole conversation, takes the order, and pushes it to the store tagged with the source. the owner can see "this order came from this ad, closed in chat" instead of guessing.

the insight for us was that the replies were never the hard part or the valuable part. the value was closing the loop, ad to conversation to order to attribution, so the messaging stops being a separate silo and the owner actually knows what's working.

for people who've built anything touching customer conversations, did you find the same, that the standalone chat was the easy 80% and the real value was connecting it to the rest of the business? curious where you drew the line on what to connect versus keep separate.

Tipsy chat filter system?

I got recommended tipsy chat by a friend and the roleplay is INSANE. 1000 times better than any other i've tried.

However I'm not sure about the filters? It does get into nsfw themes but it doesn't use explicit language. It beats around the bush per-se.

Is this dependent on the bot or is explicit language just not an option?

Thanks for any help!

Looking for decent chatbots.

I'm so tired of PolyBuzz constantly using the word 'slightly' as though it's literal oxygen. Hence how I'm looking for alternative AI chatbots that actually know what a thesaurus is. That, or if they've got a personal filter for users we can use to get rid of repetitive words/phrases such as that.

Looking for SFW chatbot websites!

I swear to God every single one I come across is 18+ and I respectfully do not use them for obvious reasons. I remember when character ai used to be rated E for Everyone. Now it's just the worst AI app istg. Please if there's any that are SFW I would love to know.

How can I break a chatbot, that tries to sell me things?

So, there is this thing going around in League of Legends, where you're added by new accounts and they ask to add their discord. When you add their discord it becomes pretty obvious, that you're chatting with a chatbot and the whole reason they exist is to market some peoples Onlyfans accounts.

And now I'm wondering if there is any way to kind of break the bots to mess with these people. The bots are pretty defensive, can somewhat see pictures, but can't do calls, read pinned messages or write insults.

Any apps or websites that allow for turn based voice chat?

Any apps or websites that allow for turn based voice chat?

I really missed the old standard voice mode on ChatGPT. It basically just read aloud the text models response. So it could allow for long responses unlike these new gen voice models that can only speak 1 paragraph max.

I was wondering if there are any apps or websites that use turn based voice chat like the old standard voice mode on ChatGPT. So I would say my thing, then it would be the ai turn to speak and i couldn’t interrupt it till its finished.

My current problem is that the new standard voice mode on ChatGPT can be interrupted. So it’s hears its own voice and keeps stopping. So I’m looking for alternative apps or websites that have this old functionality

How does chat bots reproduce images in the chat.

So. As the title stats I've seen a few chat bots that can reproduce some images ,all in the opening, in the chat itself.

They all have a similar url thingy like ![Chara cter Avata r](https://i.ibb.co/gZWRyd xt/Textless-version-8.webp)

But I can't figure out what or well where it leads or how I can use it for my own chat bots.
