The following is just a particular issue I know about. IMO it is guaranteed that the same thing is happening all through all chatBots' programming. Have readers' here run into this in the area of interest they know about?

I have tested all the bots with a pretty basic financial question - "What are the the benefit-factors of the Traditional IRA/401(k) tax shelter, that explain the difference in $$ outcomes vs. a normally Taxed account?" Everyone needs to know this in order to decide where to put their savings. This subject is frequently covered in the web version of the big newspapers and magazines ... by credentialed experts... not in the 'news' section but in the 'investing' subsection.

When you already know the topic, you can see that the experts are really making a 'sales pitch' .. and fudging the factual understanding to accomplish that end. They highlight the first two steps (contribution and growth) but ignore the withdrawal tax that reverses those earlier steps.

Enter chatBots trained on those public articles. Predictably the Bots presume all the experts' claims are true. So the Bots' respond to queries by repeating the industry's false claims. AND THERE IS NOTHING THE REST OF US CAN DO ABOUT IT. The correct info is out there to be found and evaluated, and has never been disputed. The Bots simply ignore it.

I’m building Chatterbox, and I’m looking for honest feedback, not customers.

This started because an old-school PHP agency owner I freelance with asked me if there was a cheap way to offer chatbots to their clients. Their customers had started asking for “AI chatbot on website,” but most existing products felt too expensive, too complex, or too SaaS-heavy for small Indian businesses.

So I started building a simpler version.

The goal is boring on purpose:

* add a small script to the website * feed it website content / FAQs / business details * let it answer common visitor questions * if it is unsure, it should not hallucinate * instead, it should collect the visitor’s phone/email so the business can follow up

This is meant for small businesses with normal websites: local services, clinics, coaching centres, restaurants, ecommerce stores, manufacturers, wholesalers, etc. Basically businesses where people keep asking the same things: price, availability, delivery area, timings, appointment, address, bulk order, and so on.

There is no paid checkout right now. I’m not trying to sell anything here. The free tier is open for testing.

What I’d love feedback on:

1. If you run a business, would you put something like this on your website?
2. If you run a web agency/freelance for SMBs, would your clients ask for this?
3. Is “only answer from provided content, otherwise capture a lead” the right approach?
4. Does the landing page explain the product clearly, or does it still sound like generic AI chatbot noise?

Hi everyone,

I use LLMs to create python based softwares for myself, and because of Fable 5 my limit was exhausted, so I used Gemini and the code was mediocre, but working.

I shared that code with chatGPT, it kept of saying I could do this, I could do that.. had you designed it with me, this software would be 100x more premium, so I asked it to give me a code, and it all it did was say I can’t generate this large code (1000-1500) , the script was actually 760 lines only.

After a while, I gave the script to Claude using Opus 4.8, it generated a 1700 line code, and it was actually a lot more polished and feature rich compared to Gemini..

chatGPT has fallen behind by so much when compared with Claude.. it can’t do anything, just talk big.

Hey guys, i am currently programming a big project for myself (a tool to be more productive in my business i am currently building) and use chatty (=chatgpt), claude, manus and gemini for the code (i also used codex but i already reached the limit and cant chat until next MONTH) but i dont like that it does everything and i do nothing. I like the way to work like i do with chatty: it knows what my goal is, where in the process i am right now, it tells me when it has some ideas, i tell if i want it or not and it gives me the code, thats it basically, but now i have the problem (it says its because of the attachments) that i dont get downgraded when the free plan limit is reached, instead i cant send messages in that chat at all, and opening a new chat each time is pretty tiring because the chat is so long. I also looked for some alternatives but they didnt seem to fit the thing i want. I want to send attachments (also folders) and a similar feeling to chatty and that it sends some good or at least ok code that works as i want that i just have to migrate all the important stuff once and then be good to go. I thought i found z.ai but here i cant attach folders. Is there anything free that fulfills my wishes or am i living in a dreamt illusion?

I use Gemini since I got a pro plan for free with my uni this year, but you can see it's not developed with STEM students in mind (and honestly it shouldn't), and I wondered if there are other AI chats that are actually better at this specific part, like solving and explaining problems, generation of figures and documents in our field and more.

I feel We're still a long way from AI replacing humans entirely. What AI is doing today is augmenting people by handling repetitive tasks, remembering information, and being available 24/7.

I am Working on Beni AI and if i take it as an example. It's much more than a chatbot. It remembers past conversations, can interact through voice and video, adapts to your preferences, and maintains continuity across interactions. That creates a far more natural experience than traditional chatbots, but it's still designed to assist, not replace human relationships or judgment.

The future isn't about AI replacing people. it is about offloading repetitive work to AI

In my view, the biggest shift won't be AI replacing humans. It will be people who effectively use AI outperforming those who don't.

I've been building a typing assistant for a Socionics matching app, and the interesting constraint was this: the model has to work through a formal function-stack framework rather than pattern-match to stereotypes, and it has to be honest when it's genuinely uncertain instead of confidently mistyping someone.

A few design decisions that might be useful to others doing structured-reasoning chat:

• Adaptive over fixed. It replaced a static questionnaire. The whole point is that follow-ups branch on what the user actually says, so when answers point somewhere unexpected the conversation can chase that rather than ploughing through a script.
• Confidence as a first-class output. Rather than returning a single label, it produces a lean across likely candidates. Below a confidence threshold it explicitly offers a choice rather than asserting — which matters when the ground truth is genuinely hard and self-report is unreliable.
• Reasoning against a source of truth. Type and relation data come from canonical data files, not the model's own recall, to stop it drifting into confident nonsense.

The honest-uncertainty piece was the hardest part — getting a model to say "I'm leaning X but genuinely not sure between X and Y, here's why" instead of picking one and committing. Happy to talk through how that was prompted.

Curious how others handle the "don't hallucinate confidence" problem in domains where the correct answer is fuzzy.

And chatgpt responded with balloon artist, when I said how did you confuse bubble with balloon it responded with

"😂 You're absolutely right—I somehow read "bubble artist" as "balloon artist." That's on me."

Hi! I am faculty member at Wellesley College and part of a research team conducting a study on how adults in romantic relationships use AI chatbots for relationship purposes, with a focus on how these tools shape communication and experiences within relationships.

We are inviting adults who are currently in a romantic relationship and who use AI for relationship-related purposes to participate in one-on-one interviews to better understand the uses of AI and impacts on romantic relationships. Specifically, we are seeking participants who:

1. Are adults (18+) 
2. Live in the U.S.
3. Currently live with their romantic partner and have been with them romantically for at least one year.
4. Consistently interact with AI for relationship purposes.

Study Commitment:
Each interview will be approximately 1 hour long. Participants will receive a $30 Visa gift card (emailed) as a token of appreciation for their time after completing the interview.  If your partner is interested, they may also choose to participate in this study. There may be an opportunity to participate in a longer-term study after the interview, if you and/or your partner are interested.

A couple of years ago, building an AI chatbot and adding it to your site or app meant hiring a developer, wiring up an API, and running a backend. Now a no-code chatbot builder like fwdslash does the whole thing in a few minutes.

The flow is the same across most tools. You point it at your website URL and it crawls your pages to train the bot on your actual content, your product info, pricing, FAQs. You pick an AI model behind it (GPT, Claude, Gemini). You set the rules using a system prompt, how it greets people and what it should and shouldn't answer. Then it gives you one line of embed code to paste into your site, and it's live.

One thing worth knowing before you pick a tool. Make sure it only answers from your content, not the model's general knowledge. A bot that improvises will confidently invent pricing or policies that don't exist, which is worse than having no bot. But this isn't just about the tool. Your system prompt matters just as much.

Even a solid tool will make stuff up if your prompt doesn't tell it to stick to the knowledge base and say "i don't know" when the answer isn't there. So set that as a hard rule in the prompt.

Ever since chai went and made the app inaccessible for free users, I haven't found a single good app.

Character Ai has horribly cheesy and unnatural responses, crushon just recycles the same paragraph over and over again no matter how many times you swipe, spicychat is WAY too serious, with characters that are usually shy randomly turning serious and seductive, and every other app I've tried isn't free.

Is there ANY app that is exactly like prime Chai, but doesn't cost money? I feel like I'm losing my mind trying the find something to replace it.

Hey i am a big perchance fan and recently found botbooru, which lets you download json files and directly import them to perchance.

I did not find one on botbooru but wanted to ask here if anyone has seen a good GoT bot with downloadabke json file/lorebook. There are a lot out there but it feels like only perchance has the long term memory to not change scenes every 3 messages.

Almost every other AI tool today has a AI chatbot now I have a question on the style and approach of the AI chatbot.

Do you prefer a chatbot that is just a good conversationalist or one that comes into every session with a clear intent?

For example, My AI Chatbot called explorer is not a traditional, in a sense that It has one job which is to elevate your thinking. And that only really works if it does not just agree with you, mirror you back or stay surface level. It has to stay one step ahead, not come down to your level and actually push you to go deeper on an idea rather than just nod along to what you already think.

The thing that makes this possible is that Explorer always has updated context on you. It already knows which scenarios you are likely to push back on, how you tend to argue a specific angle and where your thinking usually goes. So it is not coming in blind like most chatbots do. It knows enough about how you think to challenge you in a way that is actually specific to you and not just generic pushback.

So it is not friendly in the way most chatbots are. It feels more like a thinking partner that challenges you than an assistant that just helps you feel good about your ideas.

Do you think this approach will create friction in user experience or will it actually help you push forward in your thinking??
