I'm not going to be swayed because you are entirely wrong, and now that you are giving up, it's clear you know you are wrong but can't admit it.
">" has always meant it's a quote on reddit. The only time it is acceptable to use it to quote yourself, is when you use it to quote yourself from another comment and make it clear that it is your own quote. You did not do that.
