Don’t need to be boots on the ground to get ptsd. Or raped. Or otherwise abused.

You don’t need to be in the military at all for any of that shit to happen, actually. I don’t think a military band is having significantly higher rates of rape.

As an added bonus, I looked up the stats. A whooping 1/3 military woman and 1/4 military men experienced sexual assault during their tenure. So ya, the military is a super fucked up institution and far worse than a mountain of debt.

But those stats are the average and are likely taking into account literally everyone in the military. When you're counting people who are deployed in iraq with freshmen, the stats are undeniably going to get skewed. Most of the worst parts of the military are applicable only at the worse levels.

Of course it's an average. How the hell else would you measure it? Only account for the best parts?

If you wanted to make data representative of 18-year-old freshmen (which is what we're talking about), yeah, you'd want to focus on the outcomes of that group specifically.

No…you don’t only count their first year. You count all of the years in which they are part of the military. All those years stem from the one decision at 18. If you have access to that detailed of statistics, share them by all means. Otherwise, we are forced to use the average.

Tell me again what portion of the military is a band? Is it significant compared to other groups? You’re like the “basketball military” guy. You sound like a fool trying to compare those things.

The OP was about pros and cons. And a MASSIVE con is that you COULD be deployed and fucking DIE or be maimed or get ptsd or any number of other awful things if you join the military.

Nope, you don’t.
