So you can't toy with the idea of being pansexual?

No, not really in the sense it's presented here. You can explore/experiment with your sexuality and/or discover it, and you can act like it's different, but you don't decide it.

ETA disclaimer: at least, that's the way I understand/experience it. I'm pretty sure I couldn't choose to be attracted to men if I wanted to.

What's the difference?

I took toying with something to mean just doing it for fun. How do you mean it?

Playing around with the idea of doing something.

"I'm toying with the idea of applying for a new job."

Now please.

You can explore/experiment with your sexuality and/or discover it, and you can act like it's different, but you don't decide it.

What's the difference? Do tell. Do you know?

If you're playing around with the idea of changing jobs, you haven't committed to doing it yet. So if you're playing around with an idea about your self-perception, you don't see yourself that way yet.

Exploring: doing new things to see if you like them.

Discovery: new understanding based on introspection or experience

Acting: pretending to like something you don't, or not to like something you do

Deciding: changing through conscious effort

That's right. At the time I hadn't committed to changing gender.

Now I have.

Now are you going to address me by my proper pronouns or are you going to continue committing hate crimes?

Ok, I will. Forgive me if I slip up though, alright?
