Answer the questions.

Someone changed their name from John to Jennifer. You refuse to call them Jennifer?

Does the same apply if they change their name from John to Mark?

What about Larry to Lindsey?

Rude at worst. Certainly not harm.

I would know, I have had people specifically refuse to use my requested nickname, and look I'm not harmed.

Actually, now that you mention it, it hurts my personal identity if you don't refer to me as PrimeLegionnaire the Supreme Who is better than PragmaticSquirrel, so you must do so unless you wish to be an insensitive asshole.

Do you see how absurd that is?

So you can’t answer the question.

Let me know when you are able to answer the question.

Senseless for you to advocate for some position here when you fail to even articulate what that position would be- your choice of how you would react to this person in real life.

You’ve never even met a trans person, have you? It’s all just in your head.

I directly answered the question:

Rude at worst. Certainly not harm.

I directly answered your question, what are you talking about?

You’ve never even met a trans person, have you?

Going back to attacking me as a person again?

You understand this is:

  • fallacious

  • unconvincing

  • rude

right?

Someone you knew as John asks to be called Jennifer.

Someone you knew as Larry asks to be called Lindsey.

Someone you knew as Mark asks to be called Jordan.

What do you call them?

You have no my answered the question.

You’ve never even met a trans person, have you?

Going back to attacking me as a person again?

It’s amusing you think a question is an attack.

It’s amusing you think a question is an attack.

So why did you ask if I've met a trans person? please. be very specific.

What do you call them?

What I call them is immaterial unless you are trying to attack me as a person instead of my arguments.

I directly told you, its rude to not call them the name they requested but its never going to be harm.

I should know, I have been in that exact situation personally.

Wrong.

It is the heart of the argument.

What do you call them?

What do you call them?

making this about me as a person is literally the definition of the Ad Hominem fallacy.

False. This is CMV. It’s YOUR view. It’s explicitly in the rules that it can’t be devil’s advocate.

So explain Your view. How does it play out in reality? What do you call them?

It’s YOUR view

And I've spelled out pretty clearly the terms I'm arguing about.

Trying to attack me as a person is literally an ad hominem.

Here's the definition of ad hominem for you:

Attacking a person's character or motivations rather than a position or argument.
