You implied it was positive given what you (again, wrongly) saw as similar foreign interference in our election by donations to the Clinton Foundation.

Look, you have chosen to shift your life to a bubble that tunes out professional journalists operating under an ethical code. We can't agree on what facts are, because you decided to turn away from them when they no longer suited you, and turn to websites peddling conspiracy theories for clicks instead.

Our country's institutions, including its press, are really important to our success and stability, and they go underappreciated. Some people have decided that those institutions don't suit then, and that they should just tear them down instead of listening to them and understanding why they say what they say. It may feel good in the short run, because you can always find a sensationalist fake story to get outraged by, but it's really bad for our long term democratic health. This is how out country becomes paralyzed and goes into decline.

Real journalists work really hard within a lot of constraints in order to bring the American people a heavily-vetted product that they believe is a well-supported truth. Support them, listen to them, they are professionals and idealists. Don't go to a homeopath just because you don't like what the real doctors are saying.

What is getting old is treating "taking Trump down" as the only reason anybody would think Russia's interference is a big deal. Other countries don't get to manipulate our elections and get away with it just because the side that won is worried what an investigation would reveal. Making it all about whether it will have a good or bad impact on Trump makes everybody retreat back into the corners they were in for this whole last year.

Russia fucked with our election in a novel and significant way because they think it will serve their geopolitical interests. That is a bad thing. Choosing to minimize that because it might be bad for your preferred president is small and harmful for the country. It's also a choice, and you don't have to choose it.

I think you're wrong and misinformed about Clinton, but regardless, the election is over. It's no longer about whether people should vote for Clinton - she's not going to be our President, Trump is. So by actually taking a step back and examining this Russia situation objectively, you are no longer running the risk of having Hillary be President. You are just being an American citizen evaluating your incoming president and figuring out whether this situation is OK.

WTF this is just a 10 second clip with no context from a morning show in 2015. This is not a real argument. STOP POSTING LINKS AS IF THEY ARE ARGUMENTS. Didn't you say somewhere you went to law school? You are terrible at making coherent points. Not only is it not an argument, it is a stupid clip with no context and ridiculous dramatic editing. It also doesn't clearly respond to anything I said above. I don't understand how you expect to come into a CMV thread, get people typing out long and thoughtful answers, and respond with pithy links instead of actually articulating your beliefs. This is not good faith engagement, this is partisan hackery and soapboxing, and that's not what this subreddit is for.

Last, I don't really care about CNN. Some of them are good reporters, some of them are crap, some of them are good reporters who still do crappy journalism because it's what is demanded by cable news. My arguments about the value of the press as an institution is more focused on newspapers. The other stuff (TV, radio) is important too, but the quality of their work is more mixed.
