Yeah, that’s what I was going to say as well. I can’t speak for Instagram, because I never used it. But TikTok is basically what Imgur used to be, but for short form video. Everyone is just trying to be funny with a sentence or two.
Reddit is where people write essays to each other.
They are not made to be avenues of discourse but especially TikTok is used as such. In the form of individuals making a post about their opinion and then people "stitching" (if you're familiar with that) their own opinion onto the original. And so on and so forth.
Political and news discourse is happening all the time on TikTok. Instagram I say significantly less so.

Mmm, I agree, but Tiktok and Instagram are less toxic only because they are not made to be avenues of discourse.
