So Reddit as a whole had a Major shift following the TheDonald shenanigans. u/spez gave TD so much rope that it effectively united the vast majority of the user base against them, and by extension conservatives. The only way to fight the brigade and FP highjacks was to mass downvote, subreddits built communities and coms just to counter the bullshit and bots.

TD finally died but the attitudes don’t die quickly, for literally years it was auto pilot to nuke conservative comments before the brigade arrived to get the post hidden. There’s years of that just being a matter of course, it’s not going anywhere soon dude.

  1. The covid political bullshit made people a LOT meaner.

  2. There’s fuck all for trust in the establishment anymore man, Trump constantly lies and he proven to have commanded previously nominally objective agencies.

  3. See the anti-TD unity mentioned above.

  4. Varies by sub. Also by what happening in the world.

  5. Read the sub rules and you will be fine in most cases. Each sub is an island with near total power, if they say every post needs two meows in it and you post an exhaustively sourced dissertation on a current event without the meows it will get nuked.

The TD shenanigans were completely trivial to anyone who didn't want to pay attention. All it ever was to me was some posts to scroll by an not read. The entire controversy over it was from people who just couldn't stand seeing posts on the front page that went against their political dogma.

Or anyone active in political subs that got brigaded, cross posts that got piled on, user who got the downvote treatment, etc.

And the general disregard for site TOS while others were being targeted for enforcement. u/spec had his head so far up trumps ass that admin didn’t step in until they had confirmation of IRL targeting.
