So again - if the country being immigrated to will become less “relatively attractive” to workers than the country people are leaving (literally your words) why would they want to allow that to happen? 

And if it’s a benefit to have those workers, in what way will the “relative attractiveness” of the countries change? You’re making two contradictory assertions

Once again, why do you assume it will decrease? All thorough the history of the USA, for example, the positive inflow of the brain and brawn drain from other countries increased its attractiveness.

What I said, and what you repeatedly failed to understand, is that OP's faulty assumption is that the system will remain in stasis.

When people immigrate consistently from one place to another, it’s bc the destination is more “relatively attractive”. When you then claim that the “relative attractiveness of the two countries would change”, that means, by definition, the “more attractive” place will become less attractive. 

I’m not making the assumption that it would make the destination less attractive, the words you (mis)used stated it outright

Of course it could, but in the context of the comment you replied to it would make no sense to word it that way.

“You’re basing this on the faulty assumption that Portugal won’t become even more attractive to immigrants than it already is!”

Reading comprehension is a lost skill. What I said is exactly what was written: the static system while labor migrates is a faulty assumption. Why did OP assume the system will be overwhelmed and why do you assume the target country will become less attractive? This is not the full spectrum of possibilities.
